Bath & Body

100% Natural Products Experiment – Update

Just a little update on my chemical free products week. I decided to focus on bath and body products this week.

The first thing I did was collect all of my bubble baths and shower gels and give them to my friends and family. I was actually shocked at how many of these products I currently own. It got me thinking, turning to natural home made products will save me a fortune. Bye bye high end bath & body product addiction!

After getting rid of said chemical filled products I realised that I hadn’t given very much thought to the alternative. Really all I had done til then was purchase an organic shampoo, I was far from informed. It was at this stage that I started to research. I am officially fascinated.

essential oils

I have been educating myself on the magic of essential oils and natural soap and lotions. I have even bought myself a few books on the subject. So far I’ve managed to create my own body scrub, moisturiser, body butter, soap and bath oil. Not only did I focus on the natural aspect of my creations, I made sure the ingredients were organic and blended with appropriate essential oils for my skin type. I have to say, I am a little proud of myself.

In a previous video I mentioned something I made at home that got rid of the hideous bumps at the back of my arms. Well that was one of the soaps I made blended with particular oils for irritated skin. It works perfectly! Not a red bump in sight.

I am officially converted.

How do you feel about natural products?

I love your website, I read an artical about you in the paper and went on to check it out…well done! Can you tell me where can I get some essential oils and how much do they usually cost. I have been getting really bad break outs from clensers etc. I would like to know more about essential oils! :)

Can i say amy – you have really inspired me, im off to do some research and have a go myself. I have such sensitive skin so i dont tend to use a lot of products anyway because most of them irritate me. Im hoping that now i can =]

Amy you officially have to do a video or post with specific recipes because I really want to try and get natural with my skin and body care. It is truly terrifying the amount of chemicals that everyday products have. I’m going well with my more natural shampoos but now need to focus on shower gels etc. Great idea Amy, very inspiring indeed!

Well done you for giving up all the chemicals! I don’t think I could do it. my mother only uses products made by a brand called Yves Rocher, which is all plant based but somehow my brain goes “What? No chemicals? Surely it won’t work?” LOL

Are you going to post some recipes for what you’ve made? I’d quite like to perhaps try and make some of my own. You’ve inspired me!

Wow, I’m definitely going to have to research something like that. I have those stupid bumps too. They are so annoying. I agree Lainey, they get me down too.
