I’ve decided to do my own little awards ceremony on makeupandbeauty.ie for a bit of fun. I’ll keep them coming…
Here are my favourite eye liners of 2009:
Loreal Contour Kajal: I pick up this liner at some stage every day. I use it on my water line and it stays put. Mine is black, it’s pigmented, easy to blend and doesn’t budge when it sets.
MAC Fluidline – This is probably my favourite liner of 2009. The main reason for this is that it’s the quickest and easiest to apply. I use a slanted liner brush to apply. It’s cost €7 more than the Avon equivalent but it’s 10 times better. I’ll be picking up this goodie in other colours.
L’Oreal Super Liner : This is a great liquid liner. The nib is easy to work with and it gives a high shine line to the eye. This one is great for winged liner.
Urban Decay 24/7 Liners – My favourite is Zero (black). These are the most pigmented and smoothest liners I have tried this year. I’m a massive fan! As liners go these are foolproof. The only downside is that they need to be sharpened with every use.
Disappointments of 2009: Eye Liners
Bobbi Brown Gel Liner – Loved it while it was fresh but after a few months of everyday use it congealed. I only got a third of the way down the pot before it was unusable. So as I much as I loved it I won’t be re-buying.
Make up For Ever Retractable Liner – After a week the liner fell into the container.
Avon Liner Pot: I found these hard to work with and not as pigmented as Mac Fluidline. I used them twice and never touched them again.

I totally agree with your list, and I also love MUFE aqua eyes and Benefit Badgal Liner. I haven’t had that problem with the Bobby Brown gel liners, yet…

Oh, I’m glad you posted this, Amy. I was going to try the Bobbi Brown Gel Liner, but I would have wasted my money if it is useless after a time. Now I know to get the MAC Fluidline… that will be my next liner purchase! Thanks!
P.S. My favorite liners right now are Prestige Waterproof – they are very good.
I’ve been wanting to try the MAC Fluildline and the UD 24/7 Liners. Hopefully, I’ll be able to try them this year =]
I absolutely love the GOSH Velvet Touch eyeliner pencils. They’re a lot like the Urban Decay ones, lovely and creamy, but only £5 each in Superdrug. I’ve got maybe 10 of them and I’ll keep going until I’ve got them all (I’m a bit obsessed!).

Hey Amy. I also have the 24/7 liner set and the L’Oreal super liner. I love all the little Urban Decay liners in the set. The colours are gorgeous and it gives you a pop of colour without being too dramatic.
I got the L’Oreal liner free with my Telescopic Explosion mascara, there’s a Boots deal going on with that.
I haven’t tried any Mac liners, but Rimmel ones are surprisingly good.
By the way, where can you buy NYC in Ireland? I’ve been looking everywhere!

Hi Amy,
I actually picked up a NYC liquid eyeliner the other day and it’s great! It is a smokey gray with a small amount of sparkle, and the applicator is a brush, versus a felt tip (which I don’t really like). The brush’s bristles are long and stiff, which helps with lining a nice even line.
And it’s only $1.99! Not sure if you have NYC Cosmetics in Ireland, but I’d be happy to send you one if you want to try it out!
