This is the third fragrance from Katy Perry’s collaboration with Coty. I enjoyed Killer Queen, the first fragrance, but I am usually drawn to brighter scents. This offering is fruitier and more floral.
It occurred to me that there are a tonne of products that I use every day on myself and my babies every day. Ok, so they may not be very exciting but they are necessary. I have also bought and tried many, many similar products and now have firm favourites that I repurchase again and again.
BeyoncePulse Summer Edition found it’s way to me a few weeks back. I was excited to try this out as I have heard people comparing it to EAU MEGA by Viktor and Rolf. I thought a review might be in order. The scent is described as fresh, playful, optimistic and an upbeat summer time compliment to the original.
This is essentially a floral – fruity scent. It has fresh sparkling top notes and a creamy base.
*Top notes: Icy mandarin, pear and pink pepper
*The heart: Exotic and floral, featuring ginger orchid, jasmine and orange blossom
*The base: Creamy. Sapphire woods, musk and benzoin
How does it compare to the original?
It is similar to the original but lighter, less sweet and more refreshing. If you like the first you will like the second. It does stand alone, to my nose anyway. The dry down is fresh and fruitier than the original , less creamy maybe? What pops out at me most pear and pink pepper. It might be useful to point out that although it’s more refreshing than the first edition it’s not fresh in the ‘clean’ sense. It’ll be good for Summer evenings, lounging at a beach bar sipping a Margarita – or a virgin cocktail in my case :(
The packaging and bottle are definitely suited to a younger audience. I quite like the main body of the bottle but I would pass on the pink petal like lid. In fact I think I may just remove it.
If you like Viktor & Rolf or Thierry Muggler but are tight on cash or have a thing for celebrity fragrances then you may very well like this. It lacks the complexity of the former but it’s a cheaper fragrance by far!
I got 3-4 hours of strong scent then it dd down. I could still smell it on my skin for a few more hours though.
It is available as 50 and 100 ml Eau de Parfum.
What is your thoughts on celebrity fragrances? Have you tried this one?
If you watch Made in Chelsea or you read a magazine, ever, you know well who Millie Mackintosh is. I love her style, her skin, her hair, but most of all I love her make-up.
Millie is a makeup artist and a self-proclaimed makeup junkie. This makes her choice of make-up very interesting to me. I had a snoop online and in mags and found some of her favourite products.
Millie’s makeup favourites:
Bronzer Nars Laguna
Mascara Chantecaille Faux Cills Mascara
Face Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser. She also is said to love Jemma Kidd Light as Air Foundation with a little Nars Orgasm Illuminator mixed in.
Concealer Mac Studio Finish and By Terry Touch Expert
Blush By Terry Blush Veloute No 1
Lips Revlon Just Bitten Lip Stain. She also loves Chantecaille’s Geranium Lipstick.
Now all we have to is get a part on Made in Chelsea so we can afford the likes of Chantecaille and By Terry!

Lancôme’s 2011 Holiday Collection was created by Kate Winslet in aid of The Golden Hat Foundation*.
The collection includes five L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks (€25.00 each), five new Le Vernis Polishes (€20.50) and the beautiful Poudre Golden Hat Powder (€45.00). I have my eye on that powder!! All of the products are embossed with the foundation’s logo and the actress’ signature.
In order to support Kate Winslet with this project, Lancôme has worked alongside her to create a limited edition make-up collection and will donate €150,000 to the “Golden Hat Foundation”.
The “Golden Hat Foundation” was created by Kate Winslet after she narrated the Icelandic documentary – “A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back to Autism” (a.k.a. “The Sunshine Boy”) – in which she followed the story of a child with autism. Touched by this boy’s life, she wanted to become more involved and began by developing a book project (to be published in the near futur) which brings together hundreds of self-portrait photographs by celebrities from the art and film world, each wearing the foundation’s symbolic hat. The objective? To raise money. She then went on to set up her own foundation, naming it after the poem “The Golden Hat”, written by Keli Thorsteinsson, the child featured in the documentary.
On counters from 1st November.
What do you think of the collection?

Kim Kardashian looked absolutely stunning on her wedding day – sure doesn’t she always. Makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic took care of her make-up saying that she wanted to look like the most polished and beautiful version of herself. Her certainly achieved that objective. If you want to see what products Mario used on Kim keep reading.
Mario used Lancôme 5 Pan Eyeshadow Palette in Golden Frenzy (available January 2012) – “I swept the golden shade all over lid, the darkest shade along her crease and the lightest shade I used on the brow bone to highlight. I swept the golden colors along Kim’s lower lash line for a super-soft smoky look.” And to give her lashes beautiful length and volume, “I applied two coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lashes mascara in So Black,” he explains.
Finishing off the look, he defined Kardashian’s voluminous lips using YSL Dessin des Levres lip liner in Nude Beige and Lancôme’s L’Absolu Nu lipstick in Coral Sand (a sheer peachy hue), adding a final touch of shine with Lancôme La Laque Fever lip gloss in Ravishing Coral.
The make-up breakdown makes me want to buy all of these products. Shame I won’t look like Kim after application though :)

As soon as I heard that Kate Hudson is a fan of Egyptian Magic Skin Cream I had to try it. Besides the fact that I love that woman I would also die to have skin even half as pretty as hers. Sure, she has beauticians and dermatologists at her finger tips. Since that’s not attainable for most of us, I’ll stick to trying out her favourite cream.
Egyptian Magic cream is one one of those all-purpose type products. So far I have used it in the following ways…
I could also see myself using this on a chapped nose during Winter flu season. I friend of mine swears by it as a great eye cream too. I might have to test that out. I haven’t had the guts to apply it near my acne prone areas yet though.
When I wake up in the morning after using it my skin feels so soft.Other bonuses are that the pot is larger and a little goes a really long way. There are two downsides for me are (1) the packaging and (2) the fact that this is a solid product. It’s hard to get product out without it getting stuck behind my nails. I’ve resorted to using the back of a teaspoon. Of course, a spatula would be ideal. Although the cream is solid in the pot, the heat of your skin melts it into an oil-like consistency. I should point out that although it is an oil, it’s not greasy.
It contains these 100% natural ingredients
I’m seriously loving this product! It’s expensive (€44.95) but if it’s good enough for Ms Hudson, Madonna and Emily Blunt, tis good enough for me :)
*Available at Avoca Suffolk St, Rathcoole and Kilmacanogue. In the UK it’s available from Whole Foods.
Like many of you, I spent some time perusing the red carpet snaps of celebrities on the red carpet at this years Oscars – perusing and drooling that is.
Last year I found it hard to decide which gown was my favourite. There were amazing offerings. I eventually settled on Sandra Bullock.
This year, not so much.
There was really only one that ‘spoke to me’ – saying something like ‘imagine you owned me…’ :)
The gown I speak of was worn by Mila Kunis.
She wore a beautiful light lavender dress by Elie Saab. I love the shape of the neck line, the lace detailing and the shape. It’s so delicate and the colour makes it look almost ethereal.
What was your favourite?
Katy Perry has produced nail polish range with OPI. There are four colours in the collection which are said to reflect her love of street style.
OPI Teenage Dream
OPI The One that Got Away
OPI Last Friday night
OPI Not Like the Movies
Each colour can be worn as a colour on its own or layered with the Shatter Black top coat formula which is also part of the collection. The black creates a cracked pattern when worn over the dried bright layer.
What are your first impressions?
Megan Fox is the new ambassador for Giorgio Armani cosmetics. Make-up and hair envy? Ready, set, go…
They couldn’t have picked a more suitable role model. She a complete glamour queen.
What do you think?
“Megan’s look, inspired by her elegant pale pink Giorgio Armani Prive gown, was ultra glamorous and feminine. The soft palette and color range of Megan’s dress were incorporated in the makeup, with a major emphasis on the eye. Megan’s eyes were lined with black Maestro Liquid Eyeliner. To create the smoky effect, Maestro Eye Shadows #12, #18 and #38 were layered and finished with Eyes to Kill Excess Mascara on Megan’s lashes. Blending Blush Duo #4 was used on the on cheeks and the look was finished with Rouge d’Armani #506, topped with Lip Shimmer #22 on Megan’s lips”.
I heart Danni Minogue; her hair, her make-up, her style. Funnily enough I never noticed Danni until she had her hair cut into a bob. In fact I once would have considered her a little on the tacky side. Tacky is now the last word anyone could use to describe Ms. Minogue.
Although she always looks stunning on the red carpet and for television appearances it’s her day to day style that I most admire. She is chic and understated style.
She also become a little bit of a hair style icon for me now that my hair is shorter. I vowed not to let my hair simply fall limp at either side of my face so I’m using Danni for some inspiration. Who knew there were so many ways to wear a long bob.
I have been working my way through texturising sprays and pastes, hairsprays and mousses to put together an arsenal of products for textured, voluminous hair. Post to follow I suspect :)
Who is your style icon at the moment?
I mentioned on Twitter last week that I was pondering over a new hair style. I received quite mixed responses. Many of you that had gone for the chop regretted it later.
The bed-head bob always appeals to me. It still leaves you with length at the front and the sexy out of bed angle is a far cry from the 90’s ‘wife of a politician’ bob. I have never been brave enough!
I came across some photos of celebs donning the infamous bed-head bob and I find myself considering the chop…
I’m just gona’ come right out and say it – I was January Jones’ hair and I want it now!
I know people say that when you have long hair you can do so much with it but the reality for me is that I just don’t. My hair is either straight or wavy, that’s my repertoire (if you could even call it that!). I lack the skills to attempt anything different. My hair is currently just ‘long hair’. It doesn’t have a style as such and it sometimes hinders being stylish.
As I’m constantly reminded by my hairdresser parents – ‘Life is too short and hair grows!’ I take that to mean – just do it already. If it’s that simple then why am I starting to perspire?!
