Hi Ladies, Welcome to my new website, yay :). I’ve just moved from blogspot so bear with me. I make YouTube videos under the name Dazzledust25. I'm also available for Weddings, Debs, Photo shoots, one on one make-up lessons and make-up parties.
I have had Maybelline Mineral liquid foundation for a while now. I gave it a try this week. Here are my thoughts (deep as always hee hee):
The good:
SPF 15
Creamy but light texture
Fresh glowy effect on skin after it is applied
Easy to blend and apply; fingers, damp sponge, foundation brush
Pump bottle. No mess what so ever.
Cheap and often on special offer
Very accessible. Stocked in chemists, boots & some supermarkets
Colour looked natural on me
Light to medium coverage. It’s also quite buildable. But at most you’re going to get a lighter side of medium coverage.
Can be easily mixed with your moisturiser for even lighter coverage for Summer
Good for dry skin
The bad:
Still needed a little bit of concealer but then again I do with most ‘drugstore’ foundations
Glass bottle makes it too heavy for my handbag. Not a hope in hell it’s fitting in my clutch
Needed powdering on my skin
Not very long lasting on me. Lasted about 4-5 hours before I needed to touch up. I only reapplied to my chin though. I bet this wouldn’t last an hour on oily skin!
Limited colour range
Not for those who need medium to full coverage
It may photograph a little funny due to the SPF
The marketing spiel: Minerals, sounds healthy right? Wrong. It’s full of all the usual chemicals and preservatives.
I applied this foundation using a foundation brush. Then I blended using a duo-fibre stippling brush.
If you have dry skin and you’re looking for an affordable product it’s worth a try. If you have oily skin you’ll probably want to stay away from this product, it will make you shine…in all the wrong ways.
What do you think of this foundation? Have you tried the Maybelline mineral powder?
A little while ago I was asked to show you my Natural Collection Lipsticks. I have 6 of them (misplaced one today). They are super cheap but quite good quality. Despite my ever growing collection of MAC lipsticks I still reach for these cheapies just as often.
Natural Collection is a Boots brand which is available in all of their branches. I don’t rate their eyeshadows at all but I do love their lippies.
My favourite is Apple Blossom, a peachy nude. It’s great for muting out lip colour without making it look like you have a mouth full of concealer. I also like mixing it with brighter shades of lipstick, a clever way of injecting a bit of colour when you’re terrified of brights. Rose petal is also gorgeous, it’s a wearable soft pink.
The picture above and below; left to right:
Apple Blossom, Rose Petal, Sand Castle, Sorbet, Crimson.
Apple Blossom, Rose Petal and Crimson are richer in texture than the others. Sand Castle and Sorbet are much more sheer.
Have you tried Natural Collection lipstick? What is your favourite?
This is a screen shot from my latest YouTube video. I had quite a few comments and questions about my skin/foundation. Time to confess, it was a cheap product I picked up in Boots.
I got suckered into buying Maybelline Dream Creamy Foundation the other day whilst perusing the make-up isle. Man am I happy with it!
It’s a a cream to liquid product that is designed for dry skin (which I don’t have). On the label it says it will hydrate the skin for 14 hours.
I applied this with my foundation brush. I used the tiniest smidgen and the coverage was very good. It left my skin smooth and soft and quite flawless. Best of all it didn’t dry or cake.
I have combination skin (oily chin, normal everywhere else) but lately I have been enjoying foundations designed for dry skin. Don’t ask me why they work on my skin but for some heavenly reason they do. I am a happy girl! This foundation won’t be to everyone’s taste. If you tend to get greasy, the oils in your skin will probably dissolve this foundation after a few hours.
Maybelline are on 3 for 2 in Boots so I had to pick up two lipstick as well hee hee. I’ll share those with you tomorrow, they’re gorgeous.
On my quest to find affordable good quality products I have bought a lot. Far too much. Especially considering the money I have spent. I thought I’d share my current favourite “drugstore” products. I bought most of these from Boots, Superdrug and Mc Cabes pharmacy.
In my next video, My Favourite Affordable Makeup & Beauty Products, I declare undying love for Yes to Carrots Eye and Face Make-up Remover. That’s a tall order so I thought I ought to explain myself:
As you know, I am addicted to trying foundations. I am asked a lot about cheaper brands and affordable products so I am on a mission to find us the best one. I picked up Bourjois and 17 Even Better foundation in Boots a few weeks and decided to road test them for you and do a little comparison. Turns out one of them is great. Here’s the video:
