If you’re like me and you freak out at the thought of wearing two patterns together this might be useful to you. Generally I wear a neutral item of clothing with a print rather than two prints, the later scares the bejeepers out of me. But this is so boring for me.
Since it’s Spring and I’m a huge fan of colour (there is only one black item in my closet) I decided to experiment with mixing patterns since I enjoy a quirkier style.
I started a little bit of research and then I came across this tip which will totally help me get dressed this season!
- Neutrals like black, tan, gray, brown etc can be combined together in any shade.
- Neutrals can be mixed with any color or pattern
- A neutral item with a gentle print, like pinstripe, can be treated in the same way a plain neutral can
- Patterns can be mixed together if the same colors are present within the color palette and once the prints don’t match (a tad too Grannyish)
I don’t like rules but I like to incorporate tips like these into my own style. Mixing prints isn’t everyones cup of tea but it is fun! The picture above is what I came up with, mixing tops with skirts.
Fun! I will post some pictures of what I come up with from my own closet.

There are so many laws on the expiry of products these days. I don’t follow them as a rule but I do use them as a guideline. Here are the guidelines on the shelf life of your make-up:

Ok it’s that time of year. I am gone beyond pasty with no sunlight in my near future. Now if you’re one of those ladies blessed with beautiful fair skin that stays that way all year round, I’m well jealous. At least you have skin tone consistency, so much easier to work with.
I am not so fortunate. My skins darkens quite a bit in the Summer and then fades gradually ’til February, when it can’t possibly fade anymore. The contrast between July and February is ridiculous. None of the make-up I bought works on my skin anymore. That aside, I look a little anemic.
It has left me wishing that I had the sort of fair skin that doesn’t tan. I can’t seem to work with the colour of my skin at the moment, everything looks wrong. Every smidgen of discoloration seems more noticeable. I am so tempted to try a bit of St Tropez into my moisturiser but I dare not go down that path. If I start, there will be no stopping me. My tanorexia days are done.
As you may already know, I was once a Winter self tan addict. I needed a support group to ween me off the dark stuff. I haven’t touch the tan bottle in almost a year and am happy about that. I don’t miss smelling like biscuits, stained bed sheets, dealing with streaks or smelling like a rubber glove for a week. But I do miss the fresh face!
With Spring on our doorstep my commitment to the tan ban is waning. Must. Stay. Strong.
Are many of you relying on tan this season?

I have received quite a few questions about cellulite lately. I’m no expert. My brief run in with the dreaded orange peel was short lived thanks to 7 cups of Dr Stewarts Detox Tea daily over a week. Excesseive? Certainly. Necessary? Absolutely.
The tea worked a treat because I noticed a small patch of cellulite one day and two days after I started hammering back the detox tea (I bought it in Holland and Barret). That was about 4 years ago and I haven’t seen any since. At the time my diet was sinful. I eat fairly healthily now and have no cellulite issues. (touch wood)
I’m assuming the tea worked because the cellulite was newly formed. For more stubborn stuff you’re gona have to work a little harder. With this in mind, and bikini season approaching, (more…)

It feels like I have the longest breakout ever. My skin troubles started 10 months ago and there has rarely been a day that my skin has been clear. I put it down to stress and hormones and decided that when I relaxed a bit things would return to normal.
The breakouts were confined to my chin, along the sides of my mouth. Nothing major but the fact that there was always something there started to get on top of me.I mentioned in one of my YouTube videos that I tried the Clinique three step system for breakouts. It worked well for a few weeks but then the breakouts stepped up a gear.
In early January I decided to say au revoir to my full shelf of skin care products. I have been using the All About Carrots cleaner I reviewed. It never would have occurred to me to buy this, it was a gift. I am delighted with it.I have also been giving myself a weekly facial using Liz Earl products. (more…)

I am a self confessed perfume nut. I love smelling lovely and I put time into choosing my fragrance on a given day. I like to choose a scent that matches my mood and my outfit. It might sound mad but I do it subconsciously.
I love The Body Shop’s ethos and their stand against animal cruelty so I was delighted when I heard about their new fragrance Love etc. I have read lots about it on beauty blogs so I was dying to give it a try. (more…)
