NEW |Heavy Metal Loose Glitter & Adhesive from Urban Decay ♥ Photos & Review

Urban-Decay-Heavy-Metal-Loose-Glitter

I have a love/hate relationship with glitter. I’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame but I loathe mess. If you are a fan of glitter then you will love these new Heavy Metal Glitters from Urban Decay. The glitters came about when Urban Decay developed their Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive. The product held so well that they decided to work on loose glitters that would actually stay put. You know I’m usually a boring neutrals girl, but this Urban Decay Palette made my eyes pop. It’s the new Electric Pressed Pigment Palette from Urban Decay and it’s like standing in a sweet shop. Holy shockingly vivid colours Batman! Dork, I know. However neutral I am I sometimes enjoy playing with colour. And what better way to to do that than with a palette like this. As they say, go big or go home! Continue Reading

MeMeMe arrives in Ireland – Properly! …….. First Impressions & Pics

MeMeMe_Cosmetics_Ireland_Review

So MeMeMe Cosmetics have arrived in Ireland… all over Ireland! Woo Hoo! For those of you interested in the brand you may have noticed it’s presence in Superdrug in Santry over the years. It was always poorly stocked, there were never testers available and all of the products left on the shelves had been opened, used and were smudged or broken. The brand really called to me each visit though – it’s affordable, and the boutique packaging is so cute. It was a tad out of place in our awful Superdrug store. Now it will be available in pharmacies all over Ireland, and not in Superdrug at all. I couldn’t be happier. Continue Reading

Closed! GIVEAWAY | Make Up For Ever HD BLUSHER 2014 | Second Skin Cream Blush

rsz_hd_blush_wallpaper I know it’s been a while since I posted, tut tut! I thought I’d let you all know I’m back to daily posting :) If you frequent my blog you know I’m a die hard fan of Make Up For Ever products. I get all excited when I hear about their product launches. Next to arrive on our shores is the new HD Blusher, Second Skin Cream Blush. I have heard great reviews from those of you in the US who already has access to them so I can’t wait to try them. (Giveaway below)…rsz_1hd_blush_orange_file_00012209 What is it? It’s essentially a cream blush with HD technology that melts onto the skin. It gives a natural flush of colour. I find cream blushes can sometimes be a bit gaudy on my skintone so the ‘natural flush’ grabbed my attention. It’s said to be better than cream and powder blush because of its second skin finish. This means you can’t see the texture of the product on the skin, the blush looks like its your own, no trace of makeup. Usually cream products need to be applied before powder but this one can be used under or over powder. Another pro is that its completely lightweight. It doesn’t interfere with the makeup beneath it and is said to hide imperfections whilst lasting all day on the skin. It’s suitable for all skin types, oily skinned girls rejoice! rsz_official_hd_blush_-_powder_2014_black_image Application These blushes are applied with a brush, HD sponge or fingertips depending on the look you’re going for. Best Powder Highlighters for Glowing Skin!

I should just own up to problems, I’m Amy and I’m a highlighting product addict. How many is too many?! It would appear that I have no self control when it comes to glowing skin :-) I have tried mountains of them and here are my favourites of the powdered variety. I’ll record another on liquid and cream options and application tips since I use them in a different way.

videocover

Soap & Glory All Out Luminiser – a warm peach glow. It’s natural and really pretty. Love it! This one is the cheapest of the bunch at €14 / £11. I bought mine in Boots. Link

MAC MSF Perfect Topping – a subtle pink toned sheen. There’s no glitter in sight and the powder is finely milled. It’s very natural and subtle. It has been discontinued but I included it as it’s not very unique and is similar to a lot of cheaper pinky highlighters on the market.

The Balm Mary Lou Manizer – a champagne highlight. It works really well in conjunction with a matte bronzer as a contour. It’s warm toned and is the most intensely pigmented of the five. It’s important to add a little at a time of you’ll look like you have a stairway to heaven on your cheekbone!

Urban Decay Flushed – I absolutely love this bronzer, blush, highlighter trio. This is one of my top products of 2013. The highlighter shade is  a rosy, warm pink. You can swirl all the shades together if you like (€26) Link

Too Faced Pink Leopard Highlighting Bronzer – a warm bronzy highlighter.  It’s light in tone so works on fair skin without looking dirty. I have hit pan and I will definitely re-purhcase.

If you are looking for another affordable option I recommend Prestige Sun Baked Mineral Bronzer in Pure Shimmer. It may be called a bronzer but its a highlighter. Mine is finished up which is the only reason I didn’t include it. A little goes a really long way so tread carefully.

I recorded today using the new Canon Legria Mini which is designed for vloggers and youtube video makers. Its really quick and handy to use. It was sent to me to see if I liked recording with it, so far I likes. Obviously not being compensated, just me and my own opinions as per usual :)

I hope you enjoyed the video! I’ll be uploading another one tomorrow :)

New: YSL Rebel Nudes Lipstick (Review, Swatches & Pics)

You know how much I love a nude lip product! Well, YSL have decided that nude doesn’t stop at beige. These goodies are definitely not boring! They have launched Rouge Pur Couture Vernis À Lèvres or Rebel Nude Lipsticks to us.

When I first saw the packaging I assumed this was a gloss. Wrong. It does go on quite creamy but it dries to a stain with a sheen. It’s quite unusual and not like any lip product I have tried to so far. Usually I find stains too intense and too drying, that is not the case with this gem.

Here’s how it looks on my sisters lips in natural daylight…

YSL Rebel Nudes Lipstick

Indoors with flash so you can see the reflectiveness…

YSL Rebel Nudes Lipstick(Thank you little sister for lending me your beautiful lips!)

hfk

The photo above taken with flash over-exaggerates the iridescence. You can see a slight hint of it in natural light which is very flattering. I had to try a variety of lighting set ups and flash to show it to the extreme so don’t be scared of it :) It’s still natural.

They are made with a new formula and texture which as a I mentioned is unique. There is a brush instead of a doe foot applictaor which is a bonus for me. It’s far easier to apply this way. It feels fresh on the lips too. The best thing is that they have hold but they aren’t sticky!

One slick gives a natural colour and a little transparency. You can wait 20 seconds and apply a second coat which is what you see in the swatch pictures. You can lightly blend with your fingertip to tone down the effect if you wish. I do this last step with all glosses. I like a slightly smooshed look rather than super polished – I use the word ‘smooshed’ since it looks like someone has just kissed you :) Something YSL recommend is to mix & match shades, that’s not something I ever thought of doing, it could also get very expensive! Too rich for my blood I’m afraid.

The packaging is very beautiful. I love that you can see the shade through the tube. Also the brush is precise and delivers the right amount of product, without waste.

Choosing the right nude: There is one to suit every woman. No. 103 Pink No Tabboo, No.4 Fuchsia Tomboy and No.108 Violine Out of Control are the most intense. No.101 Nude Provocateur, No 106 Beige Anarchist and No.107 Naughty Mauve are the most transparent. There are also two orangey tones for ladies with fair skin – No.102 Corail Mutin and No.105 Corail Hold Up.

It’s rare for a product to surprise me but this one sure has. They cost €33 each so these bad boys are for a payday treat!

Any fans?

The focus of NYC’s new makeup trend this season is peachy, luminescent skin. I could do with some of that!

Skin Matching Luminizer Foundation is available in 5 shades. It’s a lightweight foundation which contains light-reflecting particles. It contains emollients, vitamins and minerals and moisturises the skin whilst evening out the skintone. It also costs only €4.49 / £3.99

Liquid Lip Shine is available in Toast of New York and Pink Cosmo. One peach, one pink. I have raved about NYC glosses before so I won’t bore you but basically they are great! They also taste of Refresher sweets, yum :). €2.29 / £2.99

Colour Wheel Mosaic in Pink Cheek Glow. This is a another one of my NYC favourites. The pink works best of my skintone, whilst the peach looks great on other but unfortunately not on my skin. You can’t go wrong with these! €3.79 /£3.99

Colour Instinct Palette in Picnic in Central Park. Contains four wearable neutrals. These shadows are very pigmented. If you like gold shadows then pick this up, the gold in particular is amazing on blue eyes.  €3.49 / £3.49

Kohl Eyeliner in Chocolate Brown. This is a very decent liner, especially when you factor in the price. Well worth adding into your shopping trolley. €1.49 / £1.99

New: Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eyeshadow

I adore all things Bobbi Brown. I also love a but of sparkle so I was grinning like a cheshire cat where I saw the new Sparkle Eye Shadows. Mine is in Ballet Pink.

The shadow is loaded with dimensional shimmering pearls and glitter. Glitter? I can see you running away screaming. However, it works. If glitter conjures up images of you as a fourteen year old sparkling like a disco ball, shudders, then you are just like me but this product may change your mind. It’s elegant, light the eyes and face and I believe would look great on anyone. Yes, absolutely anyone, of any age!

The new light-weight formula is designed to last 8 hours without creasing. I’m always sceptical when I hear this but at Bobbi Brown prices I had high expectations. They do sell their own eye primer which I haven’t tried so I applied a layer of Urban Decay Primer Potion Anti-Age underneath before patting the shadow on with my finger. It glides on! More importantly it’s not greasy or oily in any way.

The shadow did in fact last all day using a primer as a base. I even went for a run in the evening and it still hadn’t budged. Now that is impressive. I’m not usually into cream shadows. I spend the whole day checking if they’re creasing or fading. This beauty has changed my mind. I never thought I would use the words ‘elegant’ and ‘glitter’ in the same sentence!

You know hoe much I like a swatch image. However, in this case I couldn’t do it justice. I walked around the house, stood in different light, tried the flash, went outside, I just couldn’t capture the magic!

gfdsIt is so much more beautiful that this images shows!

It comes in 11 shades, which I am now coveting :). Silver Moon, Ballet Pink (above), Mica, Sunlight, Cement, Taupe, Pebble, Silver Lilac, Smokey Quartz, Allspice and Baby Peach. They are definitely worth checking out.

Are you a fan of cream shadows? Any recommendations?
