I’m not ashamed to admit that if Urban Decay release a new palette, I have to have it. I love the quality and pigmentation of the shadows, adore the packaging and well I honestly I get sucked in by the limited edition part. There is a par of me that also loves a gimmick. Their latest palette was released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the film Pulp Fiction.
I know I have been a naughty blogger and haven’t posted in ages. I had some site issues combined with some holidays and well time got away from me. The good news is that I have been testing heap loads of new products in that time and have engaged in a spot of shopping, ok so “a spot” is an understatement but you knew that! I have a lot to share and have been preparing blog posts like the good little obsessive beauty junkie I am. So enjoy today’s makeup musings and I shall be back in the morning to tell you about an amazing lifting treatment and something called ‘the Cinderella effect’. Disney princess’s completely grab my attention.
I have a love/hate relationship with glitter. I’m drawn to it like a moth to a flame but I loathe mess. If you are a fan of glitter then you will love these new Heavy Metal Glitters from Urban Decay. The glitters came about when Urban Decay developed their Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive. The product held so well that they decided to work on loose glitters that would actually stay put.
You know I’m usually a boring neutrals girl, but this Urban Decay Palette made my eyes pop. It’s the new Electric Pressed Pigment Palette from Urban Decay and it’s like standing in a sweet shop. Holy shockingly vivid colours Batman! Dork, I know. However neutral I am I sometimes enjoy playing with colour. And what better way to to do that than with a palette like this. As they say, go big or go home!
I am very tempted to begin this post with a really long excited shriek but I will save you the noise. Tanya Burr, the most fabulous YouTube make-up guru, now has a lipgloss and nail polish collection by Eye Candy. I love it when good things happen to lovely people – Go Tanya! Anyways, back to beauteous glosses.
I should just own up to problems, I’m Amy and I’m a highlighting product addict. How many is too many?! It would appear that I have no self control when it comes to glowing skin :-) I have tried mountains of them and here are my favourites of the powdered variety. I’ll record another on liquid and cream options and application tips since I use them in a different way.
Soap & Glory All Out Luminiser – a warm peach glow. It’s natural and really pretty. Love it! This one is the cheapest of the bunch at €14 / £11. I bought mine in Boots. Link
MAC MSF Perfect Topping – a subtle pink toned sheen. There’s no glitter in sight and the powder is finely milled. It’s very natural and subtle. It has been discontinued but I included it as it’s not very unique and is similar to a lot of cheaper pinky highlighters on the market.
The Balm Mary Lou Manizer – a champagne highlight. It works really well in conjunction with a matte bronzer as a contour. It’s warm toned and is the most intensely pigmented of the five. It’s important to add a little at a time of you’ll look like you have a stairway to heaven on your cheekbone!
Urban Decay Flushed – I absolutely love this bronzer, blush, highlighter trio. This is one of my top products of 2013. The highlighter shade is a rosy, warm pink. You can swirl all the shades together if you like (€26) Link
Too Faced Pink Leopard Highlighting Bronzer – a warm bronzy highlighter. It’s light in tone so works on fair skin without looking dirty. I have hit pan and I will definitely re-purhcase.
If you are looking for another affordable option I recommend Prestige Sun Baked Mineral Bronzer in Pure Shimmer. It may be called a bronzer but its a highlighter. Mine is finished up which is the only reason I didn’t include it. A little goes a really long way so tread carefully.
I recorded today using the new Canon Legria Mini which is designed for vloggers and youtube video makers. Its really quick and handy to use. It was sent to me to see if I liked recording with it, so far I likes. Obviously not being compensated, just me and my own opinions as per usual :)
I hope you enjoyed the video! I’ll be uploading another one tomorrow :)
The focus of NYC’s new makeup trend this season is peachy, luminescent skin. I could do with some of that!
Skin Matching Luminizer Foundation is available in 5 shades. It’s a lightweight foundation which contains light-reflecting particles. It contains emollients, vitamins and minerals and moisturises the skin whilst evening out the skintone. It also costs only €4.49 / £3.99
Liquid Lip Shine is available in Toast of New York and Pink Cosmo. One peach, one pink. I have raved about NYC glosses before so I won’t bore you but basically they are great! They also taste of Refresher sweets, yum :). €2.29 / £2.99
Colour Wheel Mosaic in Pink Cheek Glow. This is a another one of my NYC favourites. The pink works best of my skintone, whilst the peach looks great on other but unfortunately not on my skin. You can’t go wrong with these! €3.79 /£3.99
Colour Instinct Palette in Picnic in Central Park. Contains four wearable neutrals. These shadows are very pigmented. If you like gold shadows then pick this up, the gold in particular is amazing on blue eyes. €3.49 / £3.49
Kohl Eyeliner in Chocolate Brown. This is a very decent liner, especially when you factor in the price. Well worth adding into your shopping trolley. €1.49 / £1.99
I adore all things Bobbi Brown. I also love a but of sparkle so I was grinning like a cheshire cat where I saw the new Sparkle Eye Shadows. Mine is in Ballet Pink.
The shadow is loaded with dimensional shimmering pearls and glitter. Glitter? I can see you running away screaming. However, it works. If glitter conjures up images of you as a fourteen year old sparkling like a disco ball, shudders, then you are just like me but this product may change your mind. It’s elegant, light the eyes and face and I believe would look great on anyone. Yes, absolutely anyone, of any age!
The new light-weight formula is designed to last 8 hours without creasing. I’m always sceptical when I hear this but at Bobbi Brown prices I had high expectations. They do sell their own eye primer which I haven’t tried so I applied a layer of Urban Decay Primer Potion Anti-Age underneath before patting the shadow on with my finger. It glides on! More importantly it’s not greasy or oily in any way.
The shadow did in fact last all day using a primer as a base. I even went for a run in the evening and it still hadn’t budged. Now that is impressive. I’m not usually into cream shadows. I spend the whole day checking if they’re creasing or fading. This beauty has changed my mind. I never thought I would use the words ‘elegant’ and ‘glitter’ in the same sentence!
You know hoe much I like a swatch image. However, in this case I couldn’t do it justice. I walked around the house, stood in different light, tried the flash, went outside, I just couldn’t capture the magic!
It is so much more beautiful that this images shows!
It comes in 11 shades, which I am now coveting :). Silver Moon, Ballet Pink (above), Mica, Sunlight, Cement, Taupe, Pebble, Silver Lilac, Smokey Quartz, Allspice and Baby Peach. They are definitely worth checking out.
Are you a fan of cream shadows? Any recommendations?
