Hi Ladies, Welcome to my new website, yay :). I’ve just moved from blogspot so bear with me. I make YouTube videos under the name Dazzledust25. I'm also available for Weddings, Debs, Photo shoots, one on one make-up lessons and make-up parties.
Pastel nails are in this Spring. With that in mind I decided to pick up an Easter inspired nail polish.
I settled on Collection 2000 Hot Looks in Button Moon (33). It’s a very pretty pastel aqua colour. I’ve never tried any of Collection 2000 nail polishes before. They are very cheap (under €3) and are often on special in Boots.
I always buy the same shades of nail polish, the classic shades really. So trying a pastel green/blue is quite daring for me.
What do I think?
The colour is very pretty and I like that it’s a bit different. My nails remind me that Winter in over and Spring is here. Catching a glimpse of my nails actually made me feel quite cheery.
The application wasn’t exactly plain sailing. The consistency of the polish is quite thick. The bristles are not very smooth so it was difficult to get the polish evenly down to the cuticle. It dries very fast, which is usually a good thing but the polish dried a little streaky. After the first coat it looked awful. The second coat saved the day but it’s a long way from a flawless finish. The bottle is also very small and because of the consistency I can’t imagine I will get very many applications out of it.
Bottom line, they are cheap and pretty. They are great for a seasonal polish change and a bit of colour injection. I wouldn’t rely on this polish though as the finish is a little hit and miss. They are also as bit thick and gloopy. Barry M and Rimmel polishes are much nicer. This polish isn’t amazing but it makes me smile!
Have you tried any of the Collection 2000 nail polishes? What do you think of them? What polish will you be wearing for Spring?
Rimmel Pro Lycra 291 Urban Princess is a perfect Barbie pink. I love the wide tapered edge brush, great for lazy girls like me. Two coats et voila, nails that would make Barbie jealous.
I didn’t apply a base or top coat, tut tut. It dried very quickly. It lasted 3 days before starting to chip at the nail tips. The chipping was quite minor though, I don’t think others would have noticed it.
For some reason, I’m not loving the colour. Maybe it doesn’t suit my skin tone at the moment. I might put it away until Summer when my hands are a little darker.
On a different note, I have no idea what is going on with my nails lately. I have to trim them every few days, they’re super strong and growing like mad. My nails have always been weak and crumbly so I have no idea what’s happening to them. Although, I’m certainly not complaining!
I love love love Essence Nail Polish. The cost between €2 and €3 and are great quality. They are so cheap that I want them all! At the moment I have 8 in my collection. I bought them in my local chemist. They are also also sold in Dunnes. Three of which I have not included as they are French Polishes. Here are the colours and swatches:
I am plagues by rough cuticles. I like to whip up my own oil on the weekends. Why spend money when you don’t have to!
60ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil
5 Drops Lavender Essential Oil
2 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
Warm the olive oil gently until it’s warm (not hot or you’ll scald your fingers off!) Stir in the essential oils. Leave your finger tips to soak for a few minutes. If you cover the mixture when you’re finished you can reuse it a few times.
I have always had a strange aversion to nude shades of nail polish, particularly beiges and taupes.
As a teenager I won a nail hamper which contained 12 natural shades, I gave all of them to my friends. I couldn’t see the attraction.
Lately I have had a change of heart. I’m not entirely sure why, it could be something to do with the finger lengthening effect nude nails has on hands!
I bought OPI Sand In My Suit after hearing so many people rave about it. I was intrigued when I saw the colour, it’s exactly the shade I have been wanting to try.
Ok, so pretty isn’t a word you would use to describe this super muted, soft, natural shade. But it is strangely elegant and ‘mature’, in a way that none of my other shades are. I think it will be a gorgeous sexy shade for the beach this year.
