A spot of Nail Polish Shopping….

Whenever I have a bad day I feel the urge to buy nail polish. Don’t ask why, I don’t , I just buy. Luckily I don’t often have a bad day but when I do I head to my favourite ebay store and peruse nail polishes. Then I check swatches online and create a shortlist. I love the entire, ridiculous process.

Last week I went for China Glaze Purple Panic and Pink Voltage. I usually but a few more but I managed to reign myself in :)


I think the neoness of the colours hints at the sort of mood I was in! Not traditional Winter shades but November is so dark and dreary that I could do with a little brightness. Is it just me?

I found BeautyZone2007 through Lollipop26 who often buys nail polishes from them. I have never had any problems – she offer combined shipping, nail polishes are much cheaper than here in Ireland, she has a huge range and I have never had any customs charges (I never order more than 6 at a time, usually four). Each bottle costs €2.34 and postage came to €5. Not bad for less than a tenner! It’s also a good way to buy shades that are from old collections.

I don’t have any neon shades in my collection so I look forward to trying these. Speaking of my collection, I feel like a nail polish clear out is in order. I have  my favourites but there are so many more that have been used once or twice and flung in the box.

China Glaze Anchors Away Collection – Your thoughts?

China Glaze have launched the Anchors Away Collection for Spring. There are 12 new shades. The créme shades appeal to me most, what stands out to you?

Top Row

  • White Cap: Whimsical and sparkling multi-dimensional white
  • Pelican Gray: High shine, cool toned grey créme
  • Sea Spray: Calming pale blue créme
  • Below Deck: A flirty mix of taupe and violet
  • Sunset Sail: Delightful peachy pink high shine créme
  • Life Preserver: Highly pigmented and luxurious poppy crème

Bottom Row

  • Hey Sailor: Vibrant crème red
  • Ahoy!: Delightfully intense pink that flashes with reflective glass speck
  • First Mate: Sophisticated and rich navy crème
  • Starboard: Hip and playful green crème
  • Lighthouse: Multi-dimensional, bright yellow glass speck
  • Knotty: Micro-particle beige shimmer

The shades that stand out to me most are Sea Spray and First Mate. Think I’ll pass on the shimmers but I love créme finishes. I’m going to scower some websites and order Sea Spray first, I have to have it.

I heard through a M&B reader that Salon Services sell China Glaze nail polishes and that they have them on offer at the moment – buy three for €10. I’m there… I’m not sure where there is yet but I will find out! hee hee

I’m in love with tacky nails – China Glaze Bad Kitty

I have completely fallen head over heals in love with the tackiest nail polish on the planet! China Glaze Bad Kitty.

And here’s how it looks on my nails, I manoeuvred into the light to try and capture the glittery-ness.

I needed 3 coats for this picture. One coat is too sheer and quite transparent. Two coats was pretty and reminded me of jelly shoes :) But three coats are needed for an opaque finish.

It lasted well, it was three days or so before chipping. I always apply a base and a top coat though. Although I usually have issues with glitter, I’m getting better. I quite like that the glitter is larger rather than fine.

China Glaze & OPI Haul

Let me start off by saying that I was a bad, bad girl! Now that that’s out of the way – I did some OPI and China Glaze nail polish shopping on Laura’s (lollipop26) favourite ebay store.

I limited myself to six, although my wish list is the length of my arm. This was my first time ordering nail polishes on ebay and as they were being shipped from the US I was a bit dubious about customs charges. I am happy to report that my postman delivered my package without a customs demand. Woo Hoo! That being said I don’t think I would chance ordering more than 6 at a time just in case.

Did I need new nail polishes? No but am I delighted with myself? Hell yes! :)

I have already started to put the swatches together so I will post them over the next week or so with a little review.

In case anyone was wondering, the name of the store is Beautyzone2007. The seller has mountains of OPI, China Glaze and Essie polishes at much cheaper prices than the shops. The items are shipped from the US though so bear that in mind.

The China Glaze polishes I ordered cost about €3.20 and the OPI about €4.50. Shipping to Ireland was $16 for all 6 which I think is a pretty good deal.

Have you any OPI, Essie or China Glaze recommendations for me?

A Little Preview – China Glaze Holiday Collection Sets

Is it too early to start my ‘Dear Santa’ letter? Thought as much, but I was sent some information on the China Glaze Holiday / Christmas Gift Sets and I had to share. So much Christmas prettiness cannot stay caged in an email.

I really like the look of the Oh, Ruby Deer… set. Yes, I do believe I could love those two polishes. The Merry Mint appeals to me the least, probably because I look for a stereotypical Santa or christmas tree shade around the Yuletide season, ah I’m so tacky it hurts! The Mrd Clasue shade is condusive to this but I’m afraid Naughty and Nice is not a shade I would wear.

JollyHolly from the Party Hearty Set also looks delicious and it’s different to polish I own…. that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

All of the polishes are 14ml. They will cost $6.50 each – haul from the US anyone? I shall be using my Bundlebox this holiday season. I will buy the sets for myself as an early Christmas pressie…don’t judge! Ha ha
