Voya Ritzy Spritzy

Voya Ritzy Spritzy is an anti-aging toner which is made in Ireland from hand-harvested seaweed. When the box arrived¬† I examined the ingredients and the packaging and concluded that 1) it looked impressive and 2) I wouldn’t actually use it past the testing period since I’m so lazy. I am happy to report that I was right on the first count and wrong on the second.

I have been spraying this toner on my face at least twice a day. In the morning and evening after cleansing but often during the day to refresh my skin on no make-up days. I have even sprayed it over my foundation to see if it worked as a fixative and I wasn’t disappointed.

The claims

  • Cleanses and purifies
  • Tones and stimulates skin
  • Naturally soothes and moisturises
  • Improves suppleness and elasticity of skin
  • Helps against the signs of ageing
  • Traditionally used in the care and repair of skin

I have been using the toner for 8 weeks and my skin is smooth. The clarity of my skin has also improved. When I see the words ‘anti-ageing’ on a product I fear it will break me out. Not so in this case.

This is the only product I have tried from the range but I would love to explore some more. The background of the brand is also quite fascinating (to a beauty junkie at least). The company started in 1912 when the first seaweed baths opened on the Atlantic coast of Strandhill, Sligo. Apparently thousands still flock to these seaweed baths. I have to say, I’m a little intrigued. Their products are also organic.

This toner will also be handy for my kit so I shall be purchasing another for professional use on clients.

Toner: Is it a Beauty Necessity?

Whilst tidying my bathroom shelf I counted not one but three toners. As you can probably guess, I rarely use one. The mantra ‘cleanse, tone & moisturise’ was passed on from my mother at a very young age but I’m afraid to say, I never took heed.

I decided to consider using a toner for a while to see if it improved my complexion in any way. Before doing that I decided to do a little research. It has become clear that toners have multiple benefits:

  • Stimulate circulation
  • Removes remaining dead skin cells
  • Removes gease and oil form the skin
  • Refreshes the skin
  • Helps to restore the skins natural pH balance
  • Can help lessen the appearance of pores
  • Toners that contain humectants help prevent the evaporation of moisture from the skin
  • Alcohol based astringents dry out oily skin

It is clear that I need to incorporate a toner into my skincare regime.
