Face of the Day: What Make-up I’m Wearing Today

I love looking at other bloggers’s FOTD so I decided to contribute. Here’s my mug today…

Cheeks: MAC Strobe Cream on cheeks under my foundation. I applied Benefit Hoola under my cheekbones and Milani Luminous blush on the apples of my cheeks. I finished with a very light dusting of Bourjois eyeshadow in 90 (Blanc Diaphane) on my cheekbones.

Eyes: I applied Rimmel eyeshadow in Taupe 246 all over the lid with a Sigma SS224 brush (I prefer this to the MAC version). I used the Bourjois shadow mentioned above as a highlight on my brow bone.  I smudged  The Body Shop Carbon Black Liner on the upper lash line and Essence Liner in 09 Rockstar under my eye. This was followed by two coats of e.l.f Lengthening & Volumising Mascara (not amazing but does the trick).

And lips…

PIC_1064Lips: Max Factor  Lipstick in Electric and The Body Shop Love Gloss in 15.

And finally my face…

Face: Clinique Superfit in 05 and Catrice Allround Concealer palette.

What are you wearing today?

Damn, I was really hoping that it Milani makeup was available in Ireland, seeing as you had one of their blushes.
I love everyday minerals makeup. I’ve tried other mineral make-up brands, L’oreal, Isa Dora, Revlon but I found they were full of talc and very chalky and powdery on. The powder foundation has great coverage and does no aggrevate my sensitive skin. I really love their eye shadows-they are really pigmented. You can get free samples of their foundation, blush, concealers, shadows, etc. Amy if you are interested. All you have to pay for is the shipping to Ireland which is really small-around $3-4

Hmm, hard to say. I’m a bit of a fan of bright shades – I have a few that are in the fuschia family. I can see you’re more into the nudes and neutrals, so you might like Summer Love, Darling or Clio. Maybe even Harmonica, which is a very pale pink – way too light for me. In fact, I’ve never worn that one, only swatched it a few times. If you wanted to try one, I’m happy to send it your way.

  • Lyndsey

Hi Amy, I think with E.L.F you get what you pay for on some of the products priced at £1.50. Not impressed with the Nail Varnish’s at all, they just didn’t coat my nails that well and looked quite streaky!
I like the mineral foundation and blush and think it is really well priced. When I used some of the make-up brushes – again £1.50 – they lost their bristles (is that the correct word?) alarmingly easy on my face!!!!
Overall verdict = ok, and I would try more from the range.

ah sure maybe its me, i think a trip to my local superdrug is in order, that or im going blind or something. haha.
oh the no7 foundation is a liquid and in a tube too, with no brush thank god. cant handle the one with brushes on the end, yuck!

  • http://twitter.com/lorrs27 lorraine

hey amy, yeah its called intelligent colour in light, there’s light medium and dark.think it has an spf of 6.
i prefer light, cos i think it blends well to my skin tone. it gives a nice sheer cover, although i was at the mac counter and i may be going back to pick up one of their cream stick foundations as the girl gave me a very good match i was well pleased with that.
but am after a lipstick now that isnt drying. i used to like the maybelline watershines, but i think they have gone :-(

    • http://www.makeupandbeauty.ie Amy

@lorraine Noooooo! Was swatching them a few weeks ago in Superdrug wondering which one to get. perfect timing as always haha Thanks for the info on the foundation

  • Fiona

Today I`m wearing my maybelline dream matte mousse foundation, maybelline the falsies mascara (which is amazing, by the way), one of the urban decay alice in wonderland paletteeyeshadows in vorpal, urpan decay eyeliner pencil in zero, and some random blush that I have no idea where it came from, but its lovely!
Also Amy Hve you ever tried coralista by benifit? If you have, do you recommend it?
    Thanks `n` bye!

    • http://www.makeupandbeauty.ie Amy

@Fiona Love Coralista! A light touch is the way to go with it though. I’ve seen some people wear too much of it and it looks like wind burn hee hee

  • http://deedee255.blogspot.com/ Dee

Hi Amy – personally I love the NYX lipsticks. They’re super cheap and come in a million colours. However, I’m hesitant to ever personally recommend them because I know some people really don’t like the texture (I don’t have any problems with it, myself) and they’re not super long lasting. This is not an issue for me because no lipstick ever lasts long on my lips – I have $50 lippies I have to reapply ever hour.

They’re cheap enough to try out and not feel dudded if you don’t like them, though. :-)

    • http://www.makeupandbeauty.ie Amy

@Dee I’m no lipstick snob so I’d love to give these a whirl for personal use. I like reapplying :) Any particular shades you recommend?

  • Alethea

    Hi Amy,

Today I have on my MAC Studio Tint in Light over GOSH Velvet Touch Foundation Primer. I used MAC Select MoistureCover Concealer (which I don’t rate but want to use up) and set with MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural. I added a pop of bright pink to the apples of my cheeks with Sleek Pixie Pink blush and contoured and added warmth to my face with Barry M Natural Dazzle Pressed Powder. I used Collection 2000 Clear Mascara to set my brows and used TFSI followed by some eyeshadows from the Sleek Storm palette (light gold, mid gold and copper). Quick slick of L’Oreal Lineur Intense in black and a couple of coats of L’Oreal Telescopic Explosion and a coat of NARS Sweet Revenge gloss and I’m done! Phew!!
