New Hair Cut & Todays Minimal Makeup

Why does a haircut have the power to make us feel brand new?

I was in desperate need of a haircut! I had extension put in in November so there has been no trims or highlights since then. When the extensions came out my hair was in great condition but it badly needed to be trimmed and shaped.

After a visit to lovely Mammy….

I had a few highlights and a semi of low-lights done.  I love low lights for richness and texture. I had an inch of two trimmed off the ends and had some layers added through the back and to frame my face.

Today was a minimal makeup sort of a day.

  • Revlon Colorstay in Natural Beige
  • Sonia Kashuk Hidden Agenda Concealer Palette
  • DH Brows – Taupe
  • Covergirl Lash Blast Mascara
  • Cargo Lip Gloss – peach
  • Too Faced Pink Leopard Bronzer
  • Make Up For Ever Aqua Kohl Liner
  • Benefit High Beam

A note on the extensions I removed – They were amazing. It was like having perfect hair every morning. The best things was having no glue. My hair is growing at about three times its usual growth rate so I found they grew out quicker. I would definitely get the again when my hair goes crappy after baba is born. I had them done at issoni.ie. I couldn’t recommend them more!

I feel like a new woman!

    Hi Amy,
Just wondering if you found your extension ends extremely dry? I am just wondering if its because they were razored and if I should get them scissors cut? Appreciate your feedback love your blog! Cheers

Hi Sharon – I’m no expert but I think razoring gives a more blunt cut and scissors a softer look, don’t think it would effect dryness. Mine were kind of sliced through the length with a razor to take away any blockiness. No matter what hair extensions I have tried they always need a bit of tlc at the ends. It’s real human hair so it gets damaged like our own and it doesn’t have roots for moisture. I used Redken all soft argan oil through the lengths and that sorted it for me. Thanks for loving my blog :))) Best of luck!

Just reading biancas comment on issonni hair extensions. I got hair extensions at issonni near a year ago. I had always wanted to get hair extensions done for years and when i finally saved up the money i choose issonni because of the great reviews on the internet. Unfortunately i also had a bad experience with them. My hair was quite short and i found the extensions did not look naturally at all. They were not cut well into the shape of my hair. I had to pay out an extra 80euro to get another hair dresser to cut them into the shape of my own hair after paying 500euro to get them in and after paying around 30euro (i think) for special issonni products. I found the hair extensions quite dry and they took me ages to blowdry and straighten. I got the extensions out after a little over a month as my head was mad itchy. I was never able to wash my hair properly with the weafts in so maybe thats why. i am so happy to have my own hair back.
One thing i have to say doe they did not damage my own hair one bit but still i wouldnt recommend them.
However i agree what you say what works for one doesnt work for all.
Love your new hair cut :) and the website:) biggest fan:) xxxx

Love your hair so much. V jealous of it’s color. Mine is so boring, i’m afraid to try anything different. I plan to change it and then I chicken out. Love your hair most like this :-) x

I know the feeling. That being said, anytime I have bit the bullet and tried something different it always ended in tears lol

    Hi,

Loving the shape of your hair Amy!
I too had the issonni extensions and found them great. I got them in to grow out a rather ugly bob which almost destroyed me! I eventually got them removed when i felt that my hair was at a reasonable length that i was happy with.
My hair was in super condition when they were removed and just needed a sight chop and color to jazz it up.
Although the hair extensions are expensive and quite high maintenance they are definitely worth it as they will do wonders for your self confidence! I used to pet mine when sitting in traffic (but that’s another story). My own hair is softer and feels nice to touch whereas the extension hair was a bit prickly (or so my boyfriend told me).
Over all thumbs up to Emilia and the issonni extensions i may come knocking again. (with a full wallet and crappy bob probably) x

:) I know the bob situation all too well! I was surprised at the condition of my hair too. The extensions prob gave it a break from all the styling and colouring!

    Hi,

    great new hair do!!
Why did you get your extensions removed?

I have gotten my (issonni) extensions removed too before they had been due. I could not cope with the feel of the hair (my own is much softer) and also I found these micro beads were very noticeable and painful when I sleep. I got them done for my wedding and unfortunately, I have several pictures where the beads show. For the whole duration of me having them I struggled with hiding them. I have naturally fine hair, which is why I had gotten extensions in the first place. But it seemed impossible to hide them. I regret it now. I should have gotten just clip ins for my wedding.
I also couldn’t deal with the weight once they are wet when you wash them. It pulled so badly on my head (and I had only gotten a half head done)!

    I wouldn’t recommend it.

Oh no! This sounds awful. Poor you! It’s like everything else – what works for one doesn’t work for all. Thanks for sharing! x
