An iron on the top of an eye gel? Obviously I have to know if it works. When I heard about the iron I first thought gimmick! I assumed it would be plastic and look tacky but actually its like a dainty little monopoly piece. It’s not the iron itself, its that it stays cold, like applying the back of a cold spoon to your eye puffs. Although the shape of the tip works much better with the shape of your under eye area…
Firstly let me say that I’m not a regular puffer. My eyes get puffy if I’m tired or generally if I wake groggy, but not everyday. So I used this only on the days that I had pillows under my eyes!
Now lets get down to it, does it work?
To my surprise it took down the puffiness right away. Under my eyes also looked a little brighter. My makeup went on as normal too, so it didn’t cause slip. The iron feels cool, no matter where I stored it, that in itself reduces puffing.
I did find that I couldn’t actually “iron-away”, as in the motion of ironing, moving the metal back and forwards pulled the skin a little, maybe I just didn’t have the right technique but I generally don’t tug the skin near my eyes I pat products on, I don’t need more crinkles. Instead I left the iron tip on to let the cooling action work, gently pressing the product.
Tip Apply it over your makeup if you’re puffy later in the day. I have resorted to this on a night out, shameful, but it works :-D
One thing I should mention is that I haven’t the foggiest about the gel itself. The information on Benefits website is related to the iron tip and not what it’s inside the tube. There is an ingredients list of course but alas, chemistry is not my forte. It does contain brightening pigments though, which looks pretty good on the under eye area first thing in the morning.
Buy or pass?
Buy it if you’re puffy and need some light brightening! It takes down the swelling and leaves you looking more awake. €30.50 / £22.50 /$29.
Another great de-puffer is from Yon-Ka, I have a post coming shortly.
