Oh how I love a new product launch, add Bobbi Brown Cosmetics into the equation and I’m pretty excited. The brand has launched a new limited edition Pot Rouge, Pretty Powerful II. Pretty Powerful II is a universal pink shade. It looks almost juicy in the packaging!
For those of you new to Pot Rouge you can use these guys on your cheeks or lips. I find Bobbi Brown is a great brand for dual products you can smear pretty much where you like. At the moment I am a big fan of using the same tone on my lips and cheeks, it tends to bring my makeup look together quickly when I’m in a rush and don’t have time to reach for lots of different products, like today…
This pic was taken with very minimal makeup, just some tinted moisturiser, mascara, and Pretty Powerful II on lips and cheeks.
The application is a doddle. I pat some on with my ring finger and gently tap the product out. It gives a natural but punchy pop of colour. You can keep it very low-key for daytime but using a tiny amount and add more for night time.
The packaging, as usual for Bobbi Brown products, is sleek and sophisticated. It’s also sturdy, important if you want to bung your makeup in your bag on the go. There’s also a mirror on the top of the lid, sure where would you be without that!
The staying power is great on the cheeks. I don’t find it greasy like some other cream blushes, it’s more waxy, so I didn’t get oily or patchy. And more importantly it didn’t make me spotty! I have had breakouts on my cheeks from other cream products so I am always cautious. I applied the product over my foundation and then used Urban Decay B6 Setting Spray over the top. On the lips it gives a flush of colour that wears quite like a satin lipstick would, although waxier in texture.
The compliments oh yes you know you’ve found a goodie when you get some compliments on how fresh you look today. It’s the little things.
There is an amazing element to this product. All of the proceeds (less VAT) go to Bobbi Browns Pretty Powerful Campaign. This is an campaign close to my heart as I know too well how the events life throw at us can affect our confidence in ourselves. The aim is to empower women through education to “be who they are”, by providing free services to get them ready to re-join the work-force; supplying fabulous work wear for interviews, preparing job applications and career mentoring. The campaign has already worked with over 900 women in the Dublin area.
