A Few New Foundations on the Market this Season

I’m always interested when my favourite brands release new products. Today I was having a snoop around looking for new foundation releases. Here are four that I’m excited about.

1. YSL Radiance Flawless Foundation SPF20

This foundation is designed for dull skin that is in need of a lift. It has a satin, fine texture. It contains light diffusing particles and illuminating pigments that bounce light off the skin. It’s said to soften the appearance of lines and add a glow to the skin. The SPF is also a bonus for environmental protection but not so great for photography. It was released last week and costs €42 / £28 / $48.

2. Clinique Redness Solution Makeup SPF15

Clinique has a whole Redness Solution range but are finally adding a foundation to the collection. It is designed to cover flushed skin and counteract the redness caused by flare-ups and Rosacea. It contains Mushroom Extract which has a calming effect on the skin. It also contains yellow tones which help reduce the appearance of the redness. Contains SPF15 which is great for day to day wear but makes it unsuitable for photography. It’s on sale in October and will cost €28 / £20 / $24.50

3. MAC Pro Longwear FoundationMAC Pro Longwear Foundation

This one claims to have a long-wearing foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition. It’s lightweight and creamy, applies smoothly to provide sheer to medium coverage.  This foundation is supposed to last in hot and humid conditions, control oil to keep skin fresh, natural and flawless. We’ll see. Out now in UK for £22. At the time this post was published this foundation was not available on MAC’s US website.

4. Mac Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation

This foundation is designed for those of us who want cake free coverage but a a blemish free appearance. The texture is lightweight and whipped and contains Jojoba oil. Like most foundations it’s main job in to even out the skintone. This one is out in October and will cost £12.99 (it will costs around €20).

The YSL foundation appeals to me most.  I’m also quite interested to see if the Clinique foundation will actually work on clients with Rosacea.

What foundation are you  using at the moment?

It is nice to now finally find a site where the blogger knows really well about his subject.

  • gynecomastia surgery

Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I’d like to write like this also – taking time and real effort to make a good article… but what can I say… I procrastinate alot and never seem to get anything done… Regards…

  • Celine

oh i didnt know there be a new mac foundation! im useing an inglots AMC creme foundation.. its got a very light coverage which aint good for night outs! but its grand for during the day!

  • angie

I got a sample of the Mac Pro Longwear Foundation (nw25) and i love it…it DOES last all day….My face looked the same at 11pm as it did at 7am… shine break through…no cakey look…and the strangest thing….when i washed it off ready for bed my skin still looked amazing..i double checked i had removed it all…and i had. I normally use Estee Lauder Doublewear Light (intes 2) and i love that too…but I am 100% going to get a full size of this. xx

  • ddsparkle

anyone here try Tigi bedhead Dream all in one foundation?? bought it today on a recommendation from a friend and I have to say I really love it! I’ve a very active job and it stayed on all day, looked velvety with great coverage from beginning to end. Also seemed to reduce small lines and wrinkles. Was a bit dubious as I’m a primer, liquid foundation and loose powder girl but this is actually very nice. No spf tho. Usually use studio fix or double wear. :-) Love your site Amy :-)

  • ofir

    hi Amy! :)
first of all, I just love your vids :))
    my question is…if you may…
i have acne. not an easy one….i’m in the middle of a treatment with pills actually.
anyway, i don’t have deep scars, i only have red scars where the acne was..
can you recommend to me on a good oil-free foundation for your opinion?
MAC or Clinique…or…anything really…because i feel that my Studio fix looks great in the morning! but i’m in high school…and by the middle of my school day…it looks kinda cakey..:\
and my estee lauder one is….the same story but it last longer..
sorry for the long massage, hope you’ll answer, Ofir :)

I know a lot of people have issues with MAC’s foundations, but they work really well on my skin. I love Studio Sculpt in the winter time and Studio Fix Fluid in the summer. I also quite like Revlon Colourstay but I always end p having a reaction to Revlon foundations. Diorskin Nude is another foundation with a beautiful finish.

  • Jean

the perfect foundation… is there a girl on the planet who has completed the search? I think not! A friend of mine got the 187 brush at the weekend used it with my mac foundation and OH MY JESUS I know everyone raves about it so i shouldn’t have been suprised but wow I got so many compliments on my foundation it was unbelievable with no income what so ever( oh to be a student but still have money) but I will have to buy it I just have to. Anyway back to the point of this comment I used my mac select spf 15 but I just don’t think it lasts long? At all I mean I put it on and 3 hours later it was just …. ew! Do you know if one of the others ( mac foundations ) lasts any longer? Cause I do love when it goes on first it does look fantastic! Or do you think the likes of revlon colour stay or like Maybelline superstay 24hr will do a better job? lasting power is a huge thing for me! God sorry for the massive rant I can’t help it ;)

    • Amy

You’re right, the select isn’t suitable for someone who wants staying power. MAC Studio Fix is the motherload. I’m allergic to it but if I wasn’t I definitely would use it for days that I require fuller coverage that stays put. It’s possible one of the most long lasting foundations out there. Studio sculpt it good too but it’s more a gel texture. When your buying ask the artist to apply both for you so you can decide

      • Jean

Thanks loads! Roll on BTs so ;)

  • Cassie McFadden

I’m using a combination of MAC Studio Fix fluid in NW15 and Revlon Colorstay in Buff. NW15 is even too orange for me so I have to lighten it up a bit in Summer, then in Winter I’m Buff on it’s own. I know, I’m really pale haha!! Is NARS Sheer Glow buildable coverage, because I have a bit of acne? And what shade do you think I’d be?

    • Amy

I would love to be the fair! Foundation must look amazing on you. Sheer Glow is buildable and the lightest shade they have is Siberia. It mightn’t even be light enough for you. Maybe have a look at some swatches online but you really need to test it on your skin.

      • Cassie McFadden

Haha I do love being pale :) I think foundation will look a lot better once I get this acne sorted, on strong antibiotics from my GP. Thanks Amy, might try to get a sample then so. x

  • Llora

The new MAC foundation is set to be released in North America on September 16. :)

    • Amy

Thanks Llora, updated the post :)

  • Lynn

You have piqued my interest with the MAC foundation. I’ll be pleased to give it a try when it makes it to the US. Currently, MUFE Mat Velvet is what I keep going back to use after trying so many others. The name is somewhat misleading as it’s not really “mattifying”, but leaves a beautiful, glowy-soft finish…at least on my face.

    Have a great day, Amy!

    • Amy

Thanks Lynn. I tried the mat velvet before and really liked it. I used it a lot on clients. Gorgeous finish.

  • Beth

I can’t wait to try MAC’s Longwear foundation and concealer, they sound great!!
I’m currently using a combination of a very wrongly matched shade of Estee Lauders Double Wear and Revlons Colourstay :)
    – Beth x

    • Amy

Do they work well together? I hate when you end up with the wrong shade, it’s such a waste, good idea to mix with another. Good to hear about the longwear x

  • sarah

I love Estee Lauder double wear its my fav!

    • Amy

I have yet to try. I was going to buy it on holiday because my skin was so bad before I left. Once I got in the sun my skin cleared so I passed on the double wear. Regretting it now, skins in bits again :)

  • mariga

I always end up going back to Clinique Dewy Finish. It ives coverage without being heavy. Another bonus is that it lasts ages without separating – great for me who only wears foundation on dressy up nights.

    • Amy

Ooh I haven’t heard much about dewy finish. Sounds interesting! Lately I have been wearing light coverage products unless I’m going out at night and need more coverage.

  • Amina (innerbelle)

Oh no amy, I’m so tempted I want the ysl and da mac one even tho iv gt tonnes of foundations I still need to try out in my collection

    • Amy

Use the ones you have lady!!! haha You should do a project 10 pen foundation style :)

  • Sandra

There’s also the MAC Pro Longwear foundation and concealer that is currently on the UK website, claims to stay put for 15 hours…We’ll see how that goes! :)

    • Amy

Forgot about that one Sandra! Will update :)

  • Ruth

I have been trying out the Neutrogena Healthy Skin and the MUFE HD foundations. So far I love the MUFE one but I don’t think that the Neutrogena foundation is great because I have dry skin and it seems to accentuate dry patches even more! Such a bummer because with all the hype around it I really wanted to like it. The new Clinique foundation does sound very interesting!!x

    • Amy

Ah that’s a pity about the neutrogena healthy skin, I have yet to try it

  • Tanyawoo

I’m using sheer glow at the moment. It’s so expensive but worth it. thasnks for recommending it x

    • Amy

Still a favourite of mine :)

  • Robin MC

Thanks for this Amy! Like being in the know :) I’m using even better by clinique and really like it

    • Amy

I have yet to try even better!

  • June

I find for redness the Diorskin Nude works really well, I have it in shade 22 I think, it is yellow based and gives really natural coverage but neutralises the redness well. I am using Shu Uemura Nobara Cream Foundation at the moment and I love this one too, Shade 564 is perfect yellow to neutral, very buildable coverage and very rich in pigment. I already have a drawer heaving with foundation, I should not have read this blog post!!!

    • Amy

haha I’m the same June. I can’t help myself haha Thanks for the info :)

  • Ellabella

I’ve been using Revlon colorstay for years now. Works for me :) xxxx

    • Amy

I still love colourstay, great coverage!

  • Monika

Oooh thanks for this. I love trying new foundations. Using second skin at the moment and it’s useless!!!

    • Amy

      Agreed!! :)
