NYC Eye Liners & Mascara Review & Swatches…

I have been playing around with NYC products a lot over the past couple of weeks. I’m generally quite impressed with the products they offer, a few hit and misses like most brands. NYC products are very cheap, yet some of their products are of very good quality. I particularly like their eyeshadows which I recently talked about in my May Favourites video. Drugstore eyeshadows are generally pretty awful but the pigmentation and finish of the NYC shadows I have tried have been brilliant.

This week I have been experimenting with two of their eyeliners and one of their mascaras.

NYC Sky Rise Mascara

This is for a very natural eyelash look. Now I love me a bit of lash volume, in fact, I need it. So this didn’t quite cut it but if you were looking for a natural lash with subtle definition than this is nice. The wand places a thin coat of product on the lashes. There were no clumps and my lashes did look longer, just not volumised (which isn’t the point of the product anyway Amy!). This is a good option for school.

NYC High Definition Liquid Eyeliner

This is the best of the bunch! It’s extremely easy to use, fool proof actually. It’s precise and there is no mess. It also lasted well during the day. The three swatches above were with different amounts of pressure. Here is how it looks on (roughly applied)…

NYC Liquid Eyeliner

This is the dud in the group for me I’m afraid. The product itself is pigmented and has fairly decent colour pay off. The problem is the brush. It spread when  tried to apply it rather than giving a fine tip brush effect. I prefer the High Definition liner by far. That being said I’m might try this again with my own brush.

Any thoughts on NYC products?
