Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 Anti-Aging plus Blemish Control

It occurred to me that I should probably start thinking about anti-aging products. I do use SPF in the daytime all year round but I wondered could I be doing more. At the moment fine lines aren’t visible but I want to be prepared.

The problem is that I’m still prone to  breakouts on my chin. This is a bit of an annoying situation since most anti-aging moisturisers are too rich for my skin and will no doubt end in a major breakout. So I started my search for a product that is designed for my age and my skin type. It has not been a very easy or successful search but I did come across Olay Total Effects 7 in 1 Anti-Aging plus Blemish Control in Boots.

I have been using this morning and night for a month now. I decided it was time to share my thoughts on this product.

It contains beta hydroxy acid and 1.5% salicylic acid (for those with breakouts). I have it on good authority that this moisturiser had a low ph which could irritate sensitive skin, although it didn’t irritate mine.

I have been applying this product straight after cleansing with All About Carrotts cleanser, blending in with my fingertips. I’m not mad about the fragrance although the texture is  silky and light.

I’m not stoked by the effects. It’s okay but I didn’t notice any difference to my skin at all.  I did expect to see an improvement to the breakout on my chin but alas, ’twas not to be. Maybe it’s too much to expect a product to clear my skin and help prevent the signs of aging forming. If you know of one you must share!

Have you tried this? What do you think of Olay as a brand?

You should try rosehip oil. Not drying and meant to be very good for a bit of age reversal. Ive started using adn find ing it great, so far

biore here (north america) makes a line that is meant for people in the between ages where you still get blemishes and want to start out with anti aging, i can not remember the name of the line but it is still pretty new

i think i have the scrub version to this although i havnt gotten round to trying it, hmm but the name does sound way too good to be true.

Since your using an SPF all year round, maybe you could just icorporate an eye cream into routine rather than worry about changing your moisturiser, i only say this because your too young to notice any different with an anti aging moisturiser, and also because first signs of aging usually starts showing round the eye area first.

so maybe an eye cream :)

    • Amy

@innerbelle You’re so wise! That makes so much sense :) Do you recommend any eye creams?

  • Caroline

Could you write what SPF are you using ? I tried some SPF50 but it was too heavy and I should use them but I don’t, so I’m really curious.

  • Amanda

I should add – it usually takes at least a month to see results with the active products.

    • Amy

@Amanda Was keeping that in mind alright but the bottle says results in 2 weeks. Maybe I’ll continue with it for a few more weeks x

The best products I have found for anti ageing are actives like Vitamin A and C. There’s a great Australian brand called Ultraceuticals that make their products with high concentrations of actives. They also make sheer versions of their products designed for oilier/acne prone skin types. I’ve had a lot of success with them in the past. Active eye creams are really good too.

You’ve saved me from wasting more money on another Olay moisturiser! I was trying to be good and save my skin from foundation every day. So I saw Olay Complete Care touch of foundation. I usually think Max Factor foundations are not too bad so I said I’d give it a go! I put it on and it looked like it went on fine. An hour later I caught myself in the mirror and it had clumped and streaked! Thankfully I was just at home and not in work! Oh the horror!! I gave it another go last Sunday with nothing else to do and same results! Disaster!!

    I hate wasting money!

    • Amy

@Aoife I’m so glad you mentioned that because it was on my list to try. I love the idea of leaving foundation out. Ah well, the search continues :)

I think it has to have a low pH for the BHA to be effective… I’ve read that any acid treatments work best if you use them separately from your moisturizer (apply BHA, wait 20-30 minutes, apply moisturizer). Maybe that’sthe problem? It does sound too good to be true! xxx

  • Morgan

Sad it didn’t work out… The name makes it sound like an ideal product!

    • Amy

@Morgan Doesn’t it! I should have know it was too good to be true haha
