Review: Own the Throne! Killer Queen by Katy Perry

Well the Katy Perry’s television adds are in full swing today to let the world know of the launch of her new fragrance Killer Queen. I’m not usually big on celebrity fragrances but the press images I saw a few weeks back really appealed to me. Ok, ok so it was her shoes that really appealed to me :) Well this morning a sample of Ms Perry’s perfume landed in my outstretched arms.

Let me start by saying that the bottle is lovely. It’s inspired by the queen’s scepter. It’s a ruby red jewel shaped bottle which is quite sexy. The bottle doesn’t stand on it’s bottom but rather on its side. It has a cute gold crown on the top which reminds me of Vera Wang Princess. All in all it’s probably the nicest bottle I have seen on a celebrity fragrance.

The photography is beautiful! From the set to Katy’s costume and makeup, it’s all quite decadent but still fun. her embellished, ribbon tights are absolutely gorgeous. I need to find out where they came from!!

“When I was creating Killer Queen, I was really inspired by the idea of a strong, confident woman in power and that is exactly what I hoped to put into this fragrance, something that brings out the power inside of you”. Katy Perry.

The scent itself is described as a strikingly gorgeous fragrance that captures Katy Perry’s rebellious spirit. It is quite striking and also a little sexy.

Top notes: Wild berry, dark plum, Bergamot

Middle notes: Red velvet flower, Natural Jasmine Sambac, Rainbow Plumeria

Base notes: Cashmeran, natural Patchoulli Heart, Liquid Praline.

On another note (pardon the pun!), Katy’s shoes and tights are amazing! Quite a few bloggers seem to hate the look but I have to say, I adore the shoes.

And drool…

  • Eau de Parfum 30ml €25.95 / £23
  • Eau de Parfum 50ml €33.95 / £29
  • Eau de Parfum 100ml €45.95 / £36
  • Body Lotion 200ml €14.95 /£10
  • Shower Gel 200ml €14.95 / £10

Who would like this? Teens and young women are most likely the target audience. Although it is slightly more mature that the usual celebrity fragrances I think it will appeal more to the younger woman. It’s not cheap smelling by any means and it actually has a little depth.

I really like it! Any thoughts?
