Victoria Secret Lipsticks and Beauty Products Haul
I did a little beauty and make-up shopping, oopsie! I ordered some goodies from Victoria Secret.
I have heard so much about their lipsticks that I had top try some. Here’s the video if you want to see what I got. You’ll find the links to my review of the lipsticks (and swatches) and the shampoos below.

Rimmel Nail Polish: Urban Princess
Rimmel Pro Lycra 291 Urban Princess is a perfect Barbie pink. I love the wide tapered edge brush, great for lazy girls like me. Two coats et voila, nails that would make Barbie jealous.
I didn’t apply a base or top coat, tut tut. It dried very quickly. It lasted 3 days before starting to chip at the nail tips. The chipping was quite minor though, I don’t think others would have noticed it.
For some reason, I’m not loving the colour. Maybe it doesn’t suit my skin tone at the moment. I might put it away until Summer when my hands are a little darker.
On a different note, I have no idea what is going on with my nails lately. I have to trim them every few days, they’re super strong and growing like mad. My nails have always been weak and crumbly so I have no idea what’s happening to them. Although, I’m certainly not complaining!
What’s your favourite Rimmel nail polish?
My thoughts on Maybelline Liquid Mineral Foundation
I have had Maybelline Mineral liquid foundation for a while now. I gave it a try this week. Here are my thoughts (deep as always hee hee):
The good:
- SPF 15
- Creamy but light texture
- Fresh glowy effect on skin after it is applied
- Easy to blend and apply; fingers, damp sponge, foundation brush
- Pump bottle. No mess what so ever.
- Cheap and often on special offer
- Very accessible. Stocked in chemists, boots & some supermarkets
- Colour looked natural on me
- Light to medium coverage. It’s also quite buildable. But at most you’re going to get a lighter side of medium coverage.
- Can be easily mixed with your moisturiser for even lighter coverage for Summer
- Good for dry skin
The bad:
- Still needed a little bit of concealer but then again I do with most ‘drugstore’ foundations
- Glass bottle makes it too heavy for my handbag. Not a hope in hell it’s fitting in my clutch
- Needed powdering on my skin
- Not very long lasting on me. Lasted about 4-5 hours before I needed to touch up. I only reapplied to my chin though. I bet this wouldn’t last an hour on oily skin!
- Limited colour range
- Not for those who need medium to full coverage
- It may photograph a little funny due to the SPF
- The marketing spiel: Minerals, sounds healthy right? Wrong. It’s full of all the usual chemicals and preservatives.
I applied this foundation using a foundation brush. Then I blended using a duo-fibre stippling brush.
If you have dry skin and you’re looking for an affordable product it’s worth a try. If you have oily skin you’ll probably want to stay away from this product, it will make you shine…in all the wrong ways.
What do you think of this foundation? Have you tried the Maybelline mineral powder?
Victoria Secret Love Spell Shampoo & Conditioner
If you have seen my latest video you know that I bought Victoria Secret Love Spell Shampoo and Conditioner last week. It came highly recommended so I had to get my hands on it.
Victoria Secret had a 3 for 2 offer on so I bought two shampoos and one conditioner, since I use so much less of it.
Most of my haircare purchases are bought to enhance my hair in one way or another, plumping roots, smoothing split ends, volumising etc etc This purchase however was purely based on scent. I love when a breeze catches your hair and the fragrance of your shampoo escapes. This shampoo smells like peach, cherry blossom and jasmine. It’s very pretty but very sweet.
I gave them a whirl this evening and I have to say, my hair does smell good. I did my usual to washes and one conditioning session. Performance wise I’d say it’s the same as most of the other shampoos I have tried. No better but no worse.
My one concern, as I mentioned in my video, is for my highlights. This shampoo is for all hair types. I am a little concerned that this won’t do my few highlights any favours.
I have the Love Spell body spray so I think I shall be layering my scent this afternoon. If I smell like a teen, so be it!
Victoria Secret Lipsticks
This is my first experience with Victoria Secret lipsticks. I ordered 3, a sheer pink, a peach and a coral. It was tough to settle on these three but after consulting some swatches I decided these suited my requirements; a soft, medium and loud. Don’t ask why I felt the need or a loud lipstick when I am addicted to neutrals, I’m may be trying to change my ways.
Satin Sheets is the first in the picture. It’s very sheer, with little colour. It adds a lovely dimension to the lips when applied over other lipsticks. It also looks very pretty on bare lips for a soft pink sheen. This is one fo those lipsticks that will live in my handbag. Regardless of what lipstick I apply when I’m getting ready I always keep a go to lippie in my bag and I retouch with that. I think one makes lips look kissable.
Scrumptuous is a true peach. It’s much more pigmented than Satin Sheets. This is one of those lipsticks that will look great on most skintones. It’s quite a warm, fleshy shade. I notice on the show What Not to Wear that the make-up artist usually applies a peach shade on the women during the make-over; this is what this lipstick reminds me of. I applied it over concealed lips lined with MAC Buerre Liner and a dab of Love Nectar Lustre Glass. It looked quite glamorous but in a soft way. It made me look polished.
Cabana is a coral. It looks quite bright but has a semi sheer finish. It is absolutely gorgeous and bang on trend this season. Whether I have the guts to wear it is another issue!

Boots Natural Collection Lipsticks
Hey girlies,
A little while ago I was asked to show you my Natural Collection Lipsticks. I have 6 of them (misplaced one today). They are super cheap but quite good quality. Despite my ever growing collection of MAC lipsticks I still reach for these cheapies just as often.
Natural Collection is a Boots brand which is available in all of their branches. I don’t rate their eyeshadows at all but I do love their lippies.
My favourite is Apple Blossom, a peachy nude. It’s great for muting out lip colour without making it look like you have a mouth full of concealer. I also like mixing it with brighter shades of lipstick, a clever way of injecting a bit of colour when you’re terrified of brights. Rose petal is also gorgeous, it’s a wearable soft pink.
The picture above and below; left to right:
Apple Blossom, Rose Petal, Sand Castle, Sorbet, Crimson.

Apple Blossom, Rose Petal and Crimson are richer in texture than the others. Sand Castle and Sorbet are much more sheer.
Have you tried Natural Collection lipstick? What is your favourite?
