Smashbox’s Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF15

12

I bought Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer UVA/UVB SPF15 over a year ago. I have quite a few questions about its quality.

I don’t like this product at all. It is far too greasy for my normal/combination skin. When I bought it first I tested it’s effects after an 8 hour work day over a week.

The results? No difference to my foundation.

It didn’t have any negative effects on my foundation but it certainly didn’t make it last longer. I also used it on a few clients and didn’t enjoy working with it. It’s also expensive. If I am paying €40 for a primer, it had better do it’s job exceptionally well.

I know a few make-up artists that adore this product but it’s not for me. They have a light version available now but I’m not willing to part with my cash to try it, I love my Laura Mercier Primer too much!

What do you think of it?

I bought the original one a while back and didn’t like it so it wa just rolling around in my kit until I bought Estee Lauder Double Wear which I didn’t like either – I found it too drying. However, I used both together and actually loved them. I also lik.e it under studio sculpt. The primer I use most though is Blot Out Offensive from Nurturing force. Another online buy – I get it from OCC. Quite small for the money but a little goes a long way.

I haven’t tried this version of their primer but I’m not a fan of their original primer; feels too oily for my liking.
I do like the light version though. It feels really light on the skin and it’s super easy to apply. I’ve used it in a few shoots and had no trouble with it.

I totally agree – I was given this as a gift and I genuinely can’t see what difference it actually makes? I definately wouldn’t spend my own money on it.

I was going to do a similar post to yours in future actually!

I swear by the Smashbox Photofinish Primer LIGHT. I’ve never tried the one from your review, but the light one is amazing, especially for combo/oily skin. I would recommend trying that one instead. I’ve heard lots of mixed reviews from the normal one. Maybe you can get a sample size of the Light primer and try it that way :).

I havent tried this but i’m totally obsessed with primers right now. The next one i’ll be reviewing is YSL matt touch primer. I really want the ELF studio one too.
    Yay for primers.

I didn’t like it either. To be honest i didnt think it made much difference. I find the sephora smooth and mattifying primer is unbelievable! I have oily skin and but it totally helped keep my face matte for the day, plus my make-up glides on when i use it!!! Have to get it off the internet though which is a bummer
    :(

I also think that this primer is just too greasy. I purchased it for $50, and I hardly ever use it. The pump broke/clogged on mine so when I want to use it, I have to scoop out the product. I will not be repurchasing it.
