I would like to introduce you baba number three :))

20 Weeks Scan Photos & New Bump n’ Baby Blog…

Well, as promised, here is my nugget at 20 weeks, taken on Monday. I can’t stop smiling!

There’s nothing better than the feeling of hearing your baby is growing fine – makes months of morning sickness worthwhile :)

New Blog Time!

I also wanted to mention that I have started a second blog – Bump & Baby Blog – so I can rant, rave and review all things baby and pregnancy related. I contemplated including such posts here but I don’t want to alienate my beauty readers. And lets face it, lots of people don’t want to read about baby stuff.  However, I will continue to post pregnancy beauty related posts here since it’s relative. This new blog won’t affect Makeup & Beauty.ie in any way. I will post as normal.

I will try and post on my Bump & Baby most days – Oh how I love to blog :)

Don’t forget to stop by and say hello!

Flippin’ Amazing! Cicaplast Baume B5 by La Roche Posay

La Roche Posay is one of those brands that is constantly raved about by beauty bloggers. I have tried a few of their products and their quality cannot be denied – the spf 50 for face in particular is fantastic. But I have recently come across their piece de resistance!

Cicaplast Baume B5… what a beautiful name :)

This has been a huge success in France, the home of the brand, where 6 months worth of product sold within 60 days. The most amazing thing about this is that they didn’t even have to advertise. That’s surely the mark of a good product. I was intrigued.

I picked up a tube for €12.50 in my local pharmacy – I couldn’t believe how cheap it was. After hearing such acclaim I was expecting a fairly hefty price tag. Now I actually bought it for baby Eve who had dry skin on her face, nappy rash and a touch of eczema on the back of her elbows (I tried all the usuals but to no avail). It cleared both up in 24 hours. My intrigue turned to delight. I proceeded to smear some all over the bumps at the backs of my arms, my knees and elbows and a dry patch on my forehead. All gone in a day or two. Result!

The product claims to sooth and repairs all everyday skin irritations, cuts and minor wounds. According to dermatologists the results of tests back them up. I have since read so many testimonials from Mammy’s online raving about this stuff. Ok, so its great for baba’s but it’s also great for us :)
I plan to use it on stretch-marks, scars (hopefully no c-section scars this time round), dry skin and irritation.
Cicaplast Baume B5, I’m so happy you’re in my life! Have you tried anything from La Roche Posay?

Some exciting news!!! (again!)

Thought I should mention this somewhere since I have bumped into quite a few of you lately and people will start to notice :)

I’m having another baba!

Nugget Dazzledust – Taken at 9 weeks. I’m 16 weeks now :)

I know only a few of you knew last time round. I’m quite a private person. I know, it’s ironic that I make YouTube videos – I’m so comfortable talking about make-up with you lot. I’m always afraid of airing my private life on the internet though so I left that part of my life out of the equation all together. During my last pregnancy I wanted to scream it from the roof tops but I had some complications at the start of my pregnancy. I had to be ready for the worst news and it occurred to me that if my anything bad were to happen and I had told everyone about it then I would also have to tell everyone about any devastating news. Being a private person I couldn’t face that. I also spent quite a lot of time in hospital before my baby was born – hence the reduction in videos/blog posts and also the ‘fat face’ as someone put it :) I had pre-eclampsia. Another reason I kept quiet is that my blog and YouTube channel are like my sanctuary, somewhere I can just be Amy, not mammy, pregnant woman etc I thought if the news was out there it would no longer be a sanctuary. Luckily, everything has worked out lovely. Baby Eve is 10 months old and is an angel.

This time around I feel like a pro :) I’m only 16 weeks and due on August 22nd. Man, it will  be one hot summer in my skin.

Don’t worry, this isn’t going to turn into a pregnancy blog. Make Up & Beauty will remain about shallowness and pretty things. I just thought I would let you know in case a bump appears in Outfit of the Day posts :)

I’m absolutely thrilled!

Thanks for all  your support

Amy x

Mil Tóin Teolaí -All Natural Baby Bum Balm

I got my hands on some Mil All Natural Balm products recently and whilst I have been enjoying testing the lip and body balms, baby bum balms are a little out of my league. A friend of mine who has recently had a baby offered to put Tóin Teoilaí Baby Bum Balm to the test.

Tóin Teoilaí is Gaelic for ‘Comfy Bum’. It’s made with golden yellow beeswax, which is a great emollient and organic sunflower seed oil which acts as a protective barrier.  It also included Jojoba oil, and essential oil of chamomile which are both known for soothing and healing while vitamin E helps keep the skin healthy.

My friend, and said baby’s bottom, loved the product. She found it soothed and brought down irritation. She also loved that the product was natural and mentioned that a little goes a long way when you use a small amount at every nappy change to avoid nappy rash. I have been assured that she has recommended it to other mums in her Mammy and Baby group – that says a lot to me. Her final thoughts were – love the packaging, love the name, love the product.

Personally, using natural products on a baby would be essential for me. I wouldn’t contemplate smearing on lab made chemicals unless they were deemed necessary by a doctor or something. Just a personal preference.

I read that Tóin Teolaí can also be used on baby’s scalp for craddle cap and as an all over after bath balm.

Mil’s website for those of you who are interested, click here. Tóin Teolaí costs £6.99 – the prices are in British Pounds on the website so I’m not sure how much they cost in euro.

Natural Baby Products – Yes to Baby Carrots

I get quite a few emails from pregnant women asking about natural baby skin care products. Yes to Carrots have launched baby range called Yes to Baby Carrots. All of the products are natural and gentle.

I have two products from the range, which I passed on to a friend, Sarah, who has a baby for testing. There are more products in the range but not all of them have arrived in Ireland yet. Mammies might be particularly interested in the Soothing Diaper Cream which isn’t available here until March.  I will keep you updated when I get my hands on some.

Personally I would choose any natural products for baby care over chemical laden lotions. They smell delicious but many of them contain known allergens and some contain potentially toxic ingredients. That being said, after a little research it’s every mothers personal choice.

Gentle Foaming Shampoo & Body Wash (€8.99 / $7.99)

This product is 100% natural. It cleanses and softens delicate hair and skin. It’s also tear-free and hypoallergenic. It contains no petroleum, SLS or parabens.

300ml – 10 fl oz.

Nourishing Baby Lotion (€8.99 / $7.99)

This product is also 100% natural. It soothes and softens your baby’s skin. It’s also free from petroleum, SLS or parabens. It smells gentle and delicate. I like that there is no synthetic fragrances used either. Sarah loved how moisturising the lotion is. She was delighted that it didn’t aggravate her baby’s eczema.

200ml – 6.76 fl oz.

Yes to Carrots products are sold in pharmacies nationwide here in Ireland. Their products are on sale in Debenhams if you live in the UK and if you live in the US you can order from their website. As for the rest of the world, click here for a store finder.

I have added a Pregnancy and Baby category to my blog and will update it regularly.
