Sugababes Tempt, Tease, Touch – First Girlband Fragrance Line

You know that I’m a fan of celebrity perfumes – ok so, all perfumes might be a more accurate summation but here’s some new ones.

Sugababes have released their first trio first fragrance trio – Tempt, Tease, Touch.

Tempt (black bottle)

“Tempt is a fragrance in tune with the Sugababes vibe – a vigorous fruity floral bursting with Zesty Iced Tea and the astounding scent of Purple Orchid. The Rose and Musk add texture while Vanilla Pod bursts through with a catchy beat”.

Tease (pink bottle)

“Sexy and sultry, Tease is full of passionate tempo, an intoxicating cocktail of zesty lemonade and juicy pear with luscious jasmine seductive magnolia”.

Touch     (silver bottle)

“Tempt starts with a blast of cranberry and lychee and the intensity of violet and rose ensure that the pulse keeps pounding”.

Each fragrance (100ml) will cost £19.99 and will be only available from The Perfume Shop. There are sets available for Christmas which will include the fragrance and a body lotion for £24.99.

*I will be running a Sugababes giveaway soon here on Makeup & Beauty so stay tuned.

What are your thoughts on celebrity perfumes?

My Love for Victoria’s Secret Spritzers…

I have built up a little collection of Victoria Secret body sprays over the past few years. Most mornings I open my closet and stare at a shelf of perfumes, make my selection based on my mood, outfit and plans for the day. But some days I can’t face perfume, I don’t entirely know why this is but sometimes they are too much first thing in the morning. On those days I select a VS spritzer. That way I still smell pretty but it’s a light scent.

I thought I would show you the ones I have and a little about them and I was hoping you would have some Victoria Secret recommendations for me :)

Here is the lot….

First,the Secret Garden sprays…

Victoria’s Secret Love Spell, Pure Seduction, Amber Romance, Secret Charm

These are fruity and sweet and a pleasure to use. I also have a pear scented one but I can’t stand the smell of it was excluded from the photograph. Aw, poor pear! My favourite is Love Spell. I liked it so much that I bought the shampoo and conditioner with the same scent so now my hair smells the same…it’s the little things.

I occasionally spray these on my duvet before I get into bed at night. Not for any reason other than I like to smell nice things whilst drifting off to the land of nod. Amber Romance is the one I least like out of these four, it reminds me a little of toilet freshener (just a hint of toilet freshener!).

And my absolute favourites, the PINK With a Splash line…

Victoria Secret PINK With a Splash – Soft & Dreamy, Soft & Pure, Fresh & Clean

These are absolutely DIVINE! I can’t decide which one I like best. They’re completely different and are suitable for different seasons and different times of the day.

Soft & Dreamy reminds me of cosying up beside the fire in Chigaco surrounded my shopping bags, eating gingerbread and sipping hot chocolate. Fresh & Clean reminds me of Summer dresses and freshly laundered clothes whilst Soft & Pure is a great every day scent – I have yet to assign a memory to this one :)

I was having a look at the Victoria’s Secret Website and it appears that I am missing a few from the collection. Oh dear, now we can’t have that can we! *scribbles on wishlist*.

Have you any Victoria Secret recommendations? Make-up, beauty, fragrance?

My Perfume Order finally arrived!! – Banana Republic Classic Edt

My FragranceX order finally arrived. I could launch right into a moan session but more of that later. The fragrance I was waiting on was Banana Republic Classic.
One word – j’adore!
This is predominantly a clean, fresh and light scent with citrus top notes. I have heard others say that it reminds them of freshly laundered clothes and a crisp breeze. It has respectable longevity, not amazing, but acceptable for an eau de toilette.
This is a real all-American fragrance  – it takes me right back to sipping coffee on Michigan Avenue and watching the world go by.
The drydown is a little masculine – green with sandalwood, which I happen to love. Then again, I have been know to dabble in men’s fragrances – Diesel For Men makes a sexy perfume, ladies often ask me what perfume I’m wearing. It has just a hint of masculineness.
When describing fragrance I find clothing comparisons useful :) If this perfume were an item of clothing it would be a classic mac. Simple, chic and can be worn anywhere.
I ordered my bottle from FragranceX for under $15 for 30ml. House of Fraser in Belfast wanted £40 for the same bottle.
Robbery I tell you!
Anyway, I can’t really recommend FragranceX since they took 7 weeks to deliver the perfume. It was cheap, but it came at a price. I would be a little hesitant to order from the again. When I tweeted after six weeks to say that I had not received my order, so many  people responded with similar complaints. A few claimed never to have received their order at all.
In fairness to them they are quite transparent about this. I knew when I ordered that my order would be shipped via unregistered post, but seven weeks from the US to Ireland? Come on!
I’m in love!

Thierry Mugler Womanity – Not for this Woman!

It’s been a while since I had a perfume related rant. I do love perfume, a ridiculous amount. I sense you know where this is going. Yes, I bought myself a bottle of Thierry Mugler Womanity. I’m a little deflated so it’s time to share with the group!

No matter where I took the picture the light reflected off the bottle and one couldn’t see it’s true wonder. So I settled for an image from their website, for the sake of accuracy.

thierry mugler womanity

Like all Mugler fragrances the bottle is a statement to say the least.

I would consider myself a Thierry Mugler fragrance fan, yet I only had one in my collection – Alien. The reason for my love for this brand is 1. The individuality of the fragrances 2. the longevity and 3. the packaging. I also like that they don’t flood the market with regular releases. Mugler seems focused on creating signature statement scents rather than fluffy fillers.

I was  never a fan of Angel, yet I appreciate the complexity of the fragrance and it’s individuality. So I was very excited when I heard about the release of Womanity.

I made a very stupid mistake. I bought this online without testing. Eejit I hear you shout, yes, I know!

When the package arrived the bottle looked fantastic and of course the pink was an attraction. That was the best of it for me I’m afraid.

Mugler states on his website that with this scent he was seeking to “compose a rhythmic play between sweet and savory”. Sorry? Yeah, I’m lost too.

Womanity starts with a load, heady citrus punch. That sounds delicious but it’s actually quite  flat. No sparkling lemonade here. When the citrus subsides there is a pink floral layer followed by a leathery, salty scent (which is apparently cavier inspired)  but it’s not aquatic or refreshing in any way. It’s heavy pinkness is really not for me and I would be very surprised if Womanity gets the same reception as Angel or Alien. I suppose they are a tough act to follow.

The bottom line is that it’s nothing new, even to my uneducated nose. Womanity doesn’t have the uniqueness and strength of character as it’s predecessors. It will probably still be a hit, it is Mugler after all.

It’s a bit of an expensive mistake but gladly I have a friend who will gladly adopt and love it since I clearly cannot.

What are your thoughts on Mugler perfumes? What is your favourite perfume at the moment?

The perfect Summer scent for me – Roger & Gallet Rose

It’s hard to find a fragrance that is suitable for the hot summer days. I find that the summer versions of out favourite fragrances are sometimes still a little heavy for me this time of year.

Who am I kidding? It’s an excuse to satisfy my perfume addiction.

Anyways, this month’s favourite is Roger & Gallet Rose Eau douce parfumee.

I’m not a huge fan of rose scented products, they can be a little grandma-ish but I do enjoy the scent when it’s blended with others. This is the latter.

It smells fresh, contemporary and pretty rather than rose-y. To my unsophisticated nose it’s Read more…

You all know how much I love perfume. It makes me happy, shallow but true. I decided to root out my favourite Summer fragrances…

  • Kenzo eau d’Ete
  • Stella In Two Peony
  • J Lo Miami Glow
  • Cacharel Amor Amor
  • Ralph Lauren Romance
  • Avon Be Kissable
  • Avon Tahitian
  • Victoria Secret Soft & Gentle
  • The Body Shop White Musk Breeze

What are your favourite fragrances for Summer?

Body Mists: The new edge to White Musk

I have a new fondness for body spritzers. I have built myself a little collection of body sprays, mainly from Victoria Secret.  I tend to spritz them on my clothes even if I’m wearing perfume. I know that doesn’t make sense but I love nice smells. On occasion I have even used a body lotion version of a perfume with an edt and a body spray, all clashing but yummy!

I was sorting through my sprays this morning when I came across one that I love at the moment. We all have a nostalgic fragrance that trigger memories. As a child, like so many of you, I used to cover myself in The Body Shop white musk fragrance oil. I loved it. I was in there recently and picked up the tester to reminisce. Although I enjoyed a trip down memory lane it isn’t a fragrance I could wear now. Enter White Musk Breeze.

I have the Cooling Body Mist of White Musk Breeze. It’s a much more modern take on white musk. The musk is very subtle, it’s a much fresher, sparkley version of the cult fragrance. The notes feature lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, plum, peach, leafy green, elemi, rose, jasmine, lily of the valley, aquatic notes, ylang ylang, tagette, carnation, white musk, cedar wood, patchouli and touch of vanilla.

It scent doesn’t last  that long on my skin but I haven’t tried a body spray that does. The best part for me is the cooling effect on the skin. I look forward to using this on holiday this Summer. I think I might have a look at the edt next time I’m in there.

Do you use body sprays?

Harajuku Lovers G – the most fun perfume on the planet?

I mentioned in my Spring favourites video that I have been covering myself in Harajuku Lovers G edt. When I was tidying up after recording the video I couldn’t help but notice that this bottle stands out a mile from every other perfume in my collection. Yes I am talking about the tacky packaging but also the scent itself.

I am usually attracted to sheer light perfumes, Stella is my absolute favourite. When I wear it I feel like Amy, if you know what I mean. When I wear stronger more opulent scents like Thierry Mugler Alien or Dior Addict I don’t feel like  myslef. So this little perfume is a weird one for me.

I don’t like the bottle at all but I have to say it suits the scent perfectly. It’s fun and frivolous. It contains notes of mandarin, coconut, apple skin, freesia, magnolia, and coconut cream. In other words it’s tropical heaven. The downside for me is that doesn’t last very long on my skin, two hours max. I have a little bottle though so I throw it in my handbag, minus the Read more…

The Body Shop Love Etc Perfume

I am a self confessed perfume nut. I love smelling lovely and I put time into choosing my fragrance on a given day. I like to choose a scent that matches my mood and my outfit. It might sound mad but I do it subconsciously.

I love The Body Shop’s ethos and their stand against animal cruelty so I was delighted when I heard about their new fragrance Love etc. I have read lots about it on beauty blogs so I was dying to give it a try. Read more…

Fragrance Addiction – An Update

As you may already know, I am a self confessed Perfume addict. I love scents, packaging, the sales spiels etc etc At one stage I would have called myself out of control when it came to buying fragrances. I’m ashamed to say that it’s a luxury I never denied myself.

As I looked at my perfume shelf this morning, I felt disheartened. I had many many options but I couldn’t decided. I wasn’t really feeling any of those particular fragrances today. Read more…

Mondays Most Wanted…

As you may know, I have been trying to reign in my shopping habits over the last few months. The reason behind this (no it wasn’t just for fun) is that I am heading to Chicago at the end of the month for some sightseeing and shopping.

As you can imaging I have a mega shopping list already. I won’t be able to buy everything I want but here are some of my most wanted items.

These are some of the items I will definitely be picking up!

chanel prolumiere

Chanel Pro- Lumiere Foundation. JuicyTuesday sent me a sample of this foundation and I loved it. I’m really looking forward to picking this up.

kenzoKenzo Amor EDT – I had my eye on this perfume when I was in Spain this summer but resisted, time to give in. I think if you still want something 3 months on you should probably get it :)

ud book of shadows 2

Urban Decay Book of Shadows – I have Book I and love it so I’ll  be picking up Book II

nars sheer glow

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation – After Lollipop26’s review on this I decided I’d like to give it a try

I have a few more products on my list, I’ll do another post on those next Monday.

Amy x

Zara visit

I was in Zara today…drooling! haha I saw so many things that I liked. As you may already know, I’ve been trying to control my shopping addiction lately so that I can go mad in the US next month! :) But I couldn’t resist a look.

I love this wool varsity blazer. The fit was fabulous the price however, was not. €100!! Since I bought 2 varsity blazers from ( a few months ago  couldn’t possible allow myself to buy another.

Especially since I haven’t worn the navy one! Blazers are an essential in my wardrobe. I wear alot of pretty dresses and skirts with statment shoes. Blazers add necessary structure to my overall style. I’ve found myself thinking about this item since I left the shop, this is not a good sign for my bank balance! I saw these shoes on display in Zara’s window.

Although I really like them, anything with a strap high on the instep of the foot won’t work on me. I’m quite short so adding ankle straps make my legs look  shorter. I am goin through a little obsession with grey shoes and boots lately. I’m not entirely sure why, I’ve just been drawn to them! My bag in the picture is by Kathy. It was a present from Chicago last year. It’s one of my favourites.  It’s quite heavy to carry (even without anything in it!) but I love the colour and the shape.  I find it quite annoying when the base of handbags are too wide, they’re almost uncomfortable to carry.

zara perfume

I also tested  ALL of their pefumes :) I adore perfumes so of course I gravitated towards this section. I didn’t like most of them but after testing 7 I found one I loved, Lirio de Agua . It’s minimalistic, elegant and classic. According to the sales spiel it was created from orange leaves in top notes, orange blossom in a heart and white musk in a base. Amy x
