I always get exited about the arrival of Glossy Box each month but when I saw the Valentines box I squeeled with delight (yes, I’m that easily pleased!)
Pink, pink, pink….
The contents did not disappoint!
This month includes:
… oh and a yummy Glossy box sweetie, which of course made me smile.
The star of this months box for me has to be the full size Moisturising balm (this couldn’t have come at a better time)…
All of this is a beautiful special edition bright pink box. I’m a happy woman!

This couldn’t have come at a better time of year
Time for a little fashion haul. I picked up some shoes and clothes in the US but some are from here in Ireland.
Bought anything nice lately?
Time for a little haul :) I picked up some Laura Mercier, Benefit and some Make Up For Ever products with a few other Sephora goodies.

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all enjoyed the festivities over the past few weeks. Like most of I’m sure, my house is still chocker with boxes of sweets and yummies. Mine will be swiftly dealt out amongst my family before I savage through them. Santa treated me to a few new make-up bits so I’ll post about them over the next few days. I am also thinking about my beauty resolutions so when I have committed I’ll share. Anyone get any new make-up?
Back to business…what better way to start a new year of blogging than with a MAC haul :) I haven’t been in MAC for quite a while so I was expecting to feel overcome with greed. Instead I left underwhelmed but with a bag containing a few items that had been on my list for a while.
Clockwise from top left – Trax, Rice Paper, Well Dressed Blush, Fillament, Shale.
Well Dressed Blush - it’s predecessor smashed into a million pieces. I popped all the remnants I could salvage back into the pan and attempted to use it as normal. I ended up with blobs of pink all over my face. This is a smooth true soft pink. It is just beautiful. If you’re after a natural soft pink flush, buy it. It’s perfect.
Rubenesque Paint Pot – Golden Peach with gold pearl. This one has been on my list for ages. I use Painterly Paint Pot almost every day but wanted one that is pretty enough to be worn alone. This is it! Pure class.
Shale Eyeshadow -Satin finish. Mauve-plum with subtle shimmer. This is a beautiful looking shade of plum with greyish tones. It’s not as pigmented as many of MAC’s other satin finish shadows. I applied it in the crease over a pink. The result was amazing unfortunately it made my eyes look sore. This is one for brown, green or hazel eyes – would make a great alternative smokey eye shade.
Trax Eyeshadow – Velvet Finish. Burgundy plum with gold shimmer. So far, quite a bit of fallout, even over primer and it’s not that pigmented. There is no intensity to this shade despite it’s beauty in the pan. However it does reflect nicely in the light. Once again, made for green eyes. I regret this one.
Fillament Eyeshadow – Lustre finish. This is described as a platinum silver, I don’t think that is an accurate description. It’s gorgeous in the pan! It’s even gorgeous when you swatch it under the store lights. Unfortunately, the fall-out is ridiculous. There is also very little colour pay-off and far too much shimmer chunks! If you’re looking for silver check out Silver Ring or Electra.
Rice Paper Eyeshadow – Frost finish. This is a peachy gold with shimmer. I Love it! This shadow is almost buttery and very blendable. Much better than a stark white for highlighting the inner eye.
Here are a few swatches I took in natural light…
Left to Right: Fillament, Rice Paper, Shale, Trax, Well Dressed.
Rubenesque Paint Pot
Thoughts on any of these? Combinations?
Dying to know if anyone got a any new make-up!! Off to work on my beauty resolutions. Catch you ladies later.
I am always asked about Avon products and I never have a whole lot to say. I have thoughts on a few of their products but not enough really. I decided to pick up a few items from a recent brochure to remedy that…
I actually quite enjoyed choosing what I wanted from the catalogue. I also bought the products on offer rather than full priced items – I’m sure that’s what most of you do.
So far, so good. I absolutely love the Plum blush! And the gloss is also very long-lasting – full reviews to follow. I’m curious about the accent mascara, which I can’t test yet thanks to a gross dose of conjunctivitis. They come in different shades for each eye colour.
Any thoughts on Avon?

Whenever I have a bad day I feel the urge to buy nail polish. Don’t ask why, I don’t , I just buy. Luckily I don’t often have a bad day but when I do I head to my favourite ebay store and peruse nail polishes. Then I check swatches online and create a shortlist. I love the entire, ridiculous process.
Last week I went for China Glaze Purple Panic and Pink Voltage. I usually but a few more but I managed to reign myself in :)
I think the neoness of the colours hints at the sort of mood I was in! Not traditional Winter shades but November is so dark and dreary that I could do with a little brightness. Is it just me?
China Glaze Purple Panic
China Glaze Pink Voltage
I found BeautyZone2007 through Lollipop26 who often buys nail polishes from them. I have never had any problems – she offer combined shipping, nail polishes are much cheaper than here in Ireland, she has a huge range and I have never had any customs charges (I never order more than 6 at a time, usually four). Each bottle costs €2.34 and postage came to €5. Not bad for less than a tenner! It’s also a good way to buy shades that are from old collections.
I don’t have any neon shades in my collection so I look forward to trying these. Speaking of my collection, I feel like a nail polish clear out is in order. I have my favourites but there are so many more that have been used once or twice and flung in the box.
My September Glossy Box arrived last week and I have been dipping into its contents already. By the way, if you haven’t heard of Glossy Box basically you sign up, pay £10 per month and you’re sent a box of five themed goodies each month (link to my blog post).
Here’s a breakdown…
1. Spa Magik Salt Brushing (x2) – These are gorgeous. It was great to exfoliate my skin after my holiday. They smell lemony and refreshing.
2. Plum by Mary Greenwell sample – described as a contemporary chypre, blends top notes of peach, blackcurrant, plum, bergamot and lemon. Harmonious heart notes of Gardenia, tuberose, orange flower absolute, rose absolute and jasmine absolute. Followed by Dry down of woods, Sandalwood, Oakmoss, Patchouli, Amber, and White Musks. Unfortunately this one’s not for me.
3. Neal Wolf Glow – This is a gorgeous hair shine spray. It smells beautiful and doubles up as a hair perfume for me. I have used this the most. It doesn’t weigh my hair down and leaves it shiny and smooth.
3. Fruitful Nights by Green People – this is an organic night cream. It left my skin smooth and soft without clogging my pores. Best of all, it’s gunk free.
5. HD Brows – this is a great product, one that I would have gone out and purchased alone. There are 4 shades and a mini angled brush (that’s actually useable). Love.
I’m delighted with my Glossy Box samples this month. Wonder what lies in store for October, love the surprise element. Here’s a link to the site if anyone is interested. (link)
I arrived home from my restful holiday last night and I’m straight back into blogging. I’ve missed chatting about shallow stuff. I came home to an abundance of packages to check out. Fun. One pretty box in particular caught my eye…
I was always intrigued by the idea of receiving a box chock full of products each month that I had no hand in selecting myself. I love buying beauty products but the idea of a box full of surprises makes me smile.
Enter Glossy Box.
Basically, you sign up, pay £10 per month (plus £2.95 shipping), and get a box of five high end product samples each month. I was suckered in after reading their homepage. They ship to the UK and Ireland. My August Box arrived a few weeks ago.
Here’s a goo…
Delicious packaging. It felt like a real treat. A box within a box? J’adore. Ridiculous but true. Ribbons, tissue paper, prettiness…
There is a particular theme each month. Augusts was Wash & Glo: 5 High Performing products for easy-going girls.
Here’s a wee list of what I received…
The company also send you a little card with product information which is handy. They also appear to have a product review reward system where you can collect GlossyDots which I will certainly be using.
The surprise element of Glossy Box won’t appeal to everyone but it sure did make me sign up right away. I’m also a sucker for a pretty box :)

Apologies in advance to those of you who like me, won’t be able to resist.
