Roseraie des Délices – Lancôme Spring 2012…

Lancôme have launched their Spring 2012 collection – Roseraie des Délices. The collection was inspired by a beautiful rose garden in the outskirts of Paris. It fuses delicate pastel nuances with retro shades inspired by macaroons and barley sugars.

La Roseraie Blush Palette (€45)

  • 314 Rose Cotton (radiant fucshia)
  • 316 Cotton Candy (bubblegum pink – below)
  • 318 Sweet Marmalade (zesty tangerine orange)

A Red Lipstick sort of a Day…

I felt like donning a red lipstick today. Don’t ask me why, it just felt right :) I haven’t worn red in a really long time. I tend to apply it and then change my mind. Not today.

I opted for Lancome’s new collaboration with Kate Winslet – Rouge L’Absolu Rouge BX in 132 Caprice.

Here’s a rough application to give you an idea of the colour…

And a full face shot – beware there is very little other make-up left on my face…

This is such an old-time glamour shade, but with a more modern finish. Although it’s intense, it’s very wearable and works very well on fair skin. It also smells lovely, in an old-school way. This shade makes me want to don a vintage dress and paint the town red.

The finish is satiny. It’s very easy to apply, in fact the shape of the lipstick means you could by-pass the liner entirely (although I always wear one with red). It also lasted well on my lips, hours in fact and it’s not drying at all.

I love the packaging – sleek. The magnetic closure is a god send, I wish all lippies came with one.

This collection was created with Kate Winslet in aid of the Golden Hat Foundation. I blogged about the collection recently if you haven’t seen it. (Link)

Lancôme 2011 Holiday Collection – Created Kate Winslet

Lancôme’s 2011 Holiday Collection was created by Kate Winslet in aid of The Golden Hat Foundation*.

The collection includes five L’Absolu Rouge Lipsticks (€25.00 each), five new Le Vernis Polishes (€20.50) and the beautiful Poudre Golden Hat Powder (€45.00). I have my eye on that powder!! All of the products are embossed with the foundation’s logo and the actress’ signature.

In order to support Kate Winslet with this project, Lancôme has worked alongside her to create a limited edition make-up collection and will donate €150,000 to the “Golden Hat Foundation”.

The “Golden Hat Foundation” was created by Kate Winslet after she narrated the Icelandic documentary – “A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back to Autism” (a.k.a. “The Sunshine Boy”) – in which she followed the story of a child with autism. Touched by this boy’s life, she wanted to become more involved and began by developing a book project (to be published in the near futur) which brings together hundreds of self-portrait photographs by celebrities from the art and film world, each wearing the foundation’s symbolic hat. The objective? To raise money. She then went on to set up her own foundation, naming it after the poem “The Golden Hat”, written by Keli Thorsteinsson, the child featured in the documentary.

On counters from 1st November.

What do you think of the collection?

*About the Golden Hat Foundation:

Review: Lancome Flash Bronzer Anti-Age

Review time! Today it’s Lancome Flash Bronzer Anti-Age, their first anti-aging self tanner for the face.

I know many a Flash Bronzer fan! I think this is because the colour seems to work well on Irish skin tones. I have one friend who has pretty much no pigmentation in her skin and no self tanners actually show up on her yet she loves the Flash Bronzer spray.

Press image used since Mother dearest has the bottle :)

I gave the anti-ageing self tanner a go last week. It felt moisturising without being greasy. My skin has recently returned to it’s normal/combination state, the dry skin is no more. If I had dry skin right now I think this bronzer would have suited me better but as it stands it’s a little rich. In the interest of fairness I passed it on to my mum who has dry skin and is concerned about ageing skin. It has to be said, she’s a little biased as she is a big Lancome fan anyway but she promised she would judge this bronzer based on it’s own merits.

The good:

  • Contains SPF 15. Obviously this isn’t designed for sunbathing but at least it provides some environmental protection.
  • Easy to apply
  • Dries fast on dry skin
  • Vitamin E provides protection and soft skin
  • Contains Algusium C which is said to boost collagen production and provide hydration
  • Didn’t streak
  • Comes in two shades – Golden and Bronze
  • My Mum liked it. She said her skin felt moisturised and that the colour was subtle without a hint of orange. Winner.

The bad:

  • The usual dha tanning smell, but hey, what self tan doesn’t
  • It’s pricey at €35 but then again it’s a self tanner and anti-ageing product in one
  • May not be suitable for oily or spot prone skin

Have you tried any of the Lancome Flash Bronzer collection? What do you think of them?

Perfume / Fragrance

Lancôme’s Trio of O’s

This one if for you perfume addicts!

Lancôme’s Trio of O’s, three light, fresh fragrances that transport you to the sunshine and warmth of the French Riviera.

Ô de Lancôme has been around since 1969. It’s described as light and crisp, sexy and spirited and a thousand drops of freshness in a bottle. To my unsophisticated nose this is a predominantly citrus scent with floral notes and a hint of sandalwood. This one is a little too traditional and mature for me.

Top Notes: Bergamot, Lemon, Mandarin
Heart Notes: Basil, Rosemary, Coriander, Jasmine, Honeysuckle
Base Notes: Oakmoss, Vetiver, Patchouli

O d’Azur is a floral, Summer scent reminiscent of the Mediterranean. Its rose centre pays homage to Lancôme’s heritage whilst Ô de Lancôme’s inimitable citrus notes are revived with Calabrian Lemon Essence.

Top Notes: Calabrian Lemon Essence, Lychee, Galbanum, Bergamot
Heart Notes: Turkish Damask Rose, Peony, Ecuadorian Pink Pepper
Base Notes: Woody musk

This is the latest Ô fragrance. It’s described as a light zesty orange blossom fragrance rounded off by the softness of jasmine petals with vibrant woody accents which heightens the senses. Fresh and velvety, yet intense and delicate, the orange blossom emerges mysteriously.

Top Notes:  Orange Zest, Orange Blossom Essential Oil
Heart Notes:  Orange Blossom Absolu, Jasmine
Base Notes:  Cedar, Benzoin

Each bottle costs €35.00 for 75ml.

Avon ANEW Rejuvinate Kit – Skin Revitalising 14 Day System

Avon have put together anti-ageing kits which claim to rejuvinate your skin in two weeks. I got my hands on the Anew Rejuvenate Kit – Skin Revitalising 14 Day System.

This kit is aimed at those in their thirties, Ok so I’m a few years shy of the thirty mark but they don’t sell one for twenty somethings.  I’ve decided to give this kit a go in aid of prevention :) There are different kits for those in their 30’s, 40’s , 50’s and 60’s.

The kit comes with:

1. Revitalising  2-in-1 Gel Cleanser (50ml)

2. Night Revitalising Cream (15ml)

3. Day Revitalising Cream SPF25 (15ml)

4. 24 Hour Eye Cream (Full size)

They sell the kits for €10 and the contents are worth €42. It’s a great way to try test the products without committing to full size pots. It would be ideal for a holiday since you would have everything you need for the fortnight.

I’ll reluctantly give up my Lancome Renergie Yeux for two weeks (friggin’ amazing!). I will start my testing today and get back to you after the two weeks are up.

Eye Cream Review – Lancome Rénergie Yeux Multiple Lift (new)

I have been using Lancome Rénergie Yeux Multiple Lift for 4 weeks now and I’m a happy lady.

What is it?

Essentially it’s an eye cream and concealer duo. It claims to provide a firmer eye contour, minimise crow’s feet, fine lines and wrinkles, diminished dark circles, reduced under eye puffiness and make the eye area more luminous.

I always enjoy the application of this product. I apply the cream morning and night and the concealer part morning only. I pat the cream under my eye focusing on the areas where I suspect crows feet might form in a few years (fingers crossed for a few years and not sooner!)

I have noticed a difference in the fine lines under my eye. They were very minor but aren’t really visible at all now.

The concealer part

The concealing layer is my favourite.I pat it on under my eye, on my inner eye and on the lid after morning application of the cream. Instantly, I look rested and awake. I like this so much that I could see myself getting a little addicted to it. I like that before I even apply any make-up I look rested.

It doesn’t settle into fine lines and there is no need to set it like make-up. It counteracts under eye discoloration and hides any veins and reduced puffiness. I haven’t used any under eye concealer since I started using it.

Scent, packaging and price…

Scent wise, I would say this product smells typically Lancome. If you’re familiar with the brand you’ll know the scent I mean, it’s hard to describe.

I really like the packaging. It has a little mirror in the top which helps whilst applying the concealing layer. The main cream is housed in a separate jar under the concealer layer.

Price? Friggin’ expensive! But worth it in my opinion. It suits my needs perfectly. When the jar in finished I suspect I will miss this, I sense a re-purchase on the cards.

My final thoughts

I like this product for prevention and first signs of ageing. As for whether it would work on more mature skin, I’m afraid I can’t be of help there as I’m in my twenties. Maybe I’ll pass it on to my mum for a few weeks and see how she gets on with it. I’ll keep you updated.

I’m a fan.

What eye cream do you use, if any?

Lancôme Renergie Yeux Multiople Lift – Next for testing!

Next on my testing list is Lancôme Renergie Yeux Multiople Lift. I will be testing it on myself but since I have minimal eye aging issues, for now, a friend of mine who hates her crows feet , darkness and puffiness will also be testing the product.

This is a double formula treatment which claims to produce six effects:

  • a firmer eye contour
  • minimised crow’s feet
  • fine lines and wrinkles
  • diminished dark circles
  • reduced under eye puffiness
  • and a visibly more luminous eye

The cream also claims to help the skin around the eye contour to become progressively firmer.

Sounds good right? I’m in. I haven’t used many eye creams before, you may have noticed their absence on my blog.

Recommended application:

Step 1: gently apply a small amount of cream to the eye contour starting at the inner corner of the eye: Under the eye, smooth over any puffiness or dark circles. On the upper eyelid, including over the eyebrow. From the outer corner of the eye up to the temple to smooth out crow’s feet. Repeat each movement three times.

Step 2: after applying the cream, apply the protective illuminating treatment with the fingertips over three specific areas: The inner corner of the eye, dark circles and puffiness, below the eyebrows. Carry out light, circular movements until the texture blends perfectly into the skin.

The cream should be applied every morning to clean skin before applying make-up.

I think I can manage that!

Complimentary ‘eye spa service’ at the launch

Also to celebrate the launch Lancôme Arnotts team are in store today from 6pm and they are offering a complimentary ‘eye spa service’ with their skincare and makeup service.

Availability and Price

Lancôme Renergie Yeux Multiople Lift is exclusive to Arnotts from March 3rd – April 1st 2011 and is priced at €53. Steep, but hopefully worth it.

I’ll get back to you on the effects of this one after a few weeks of testing.

What eye cream are you using at the moment?

Lancome Hydra Zen Neurocalm Moisturiser: Is it Worth it?

I have mentioned Lancome Hydra Zen Neurocalm Anti-Stress Moisturising Cream (what a mouthful) a few times on videos and M&B posts. I have re-purchased this cream 3 times. Instead of telling you that this works for me I thought I would investigate a little further.

Lancome claims that this moisturiser hydrates the skin and helps it maintain optimum moisture balance. It was designed (or marketed rather) to help skin exposed to environmental conditions that have a negative effect on the skin.

The reason I have re-purchased this product repeatedly is due to the fact that it doesn’t make my skin break out. That aside, I’m not sure that it has any other positive effects on my skin. I decided to check out the ingredients to see if there is any benefit to it at all.

According to the experts (impartial experts) this cream is very basic and ordinary. It doesn’t contain anti-oxidants which help Continue Reading
