Hauls, Make-up Brushes / Tools

Beauty tool shopping…

How many brushes and sponges does one face need? Quite a lot apparently :)

That being said, I was quite good in Chicago and came home with only three this time.

1. Sonia Kashuk Synthetic Flat Top Multi-Purpose brush

This bush received 4.7 out of 5 on Make Up Alley and has been raved out by many a beauty guru. Of course, I had to have it. I picked it up for $14 in Target. Although you can use it for powder and blush I plan to use it for foundation application. I am envisaging a flawless application… fingers crossed this one delivers.

2. Sonia Kashuk Bent Eye Liner Brush

This one was also raved about on Make Up Alley (4.6/5). This is my first experience with a bent brush. I have quite a few eye liner brushes in my possession, Bobbi Brown being my favourite. All of my favourite gel liners have dried out so I look forward to testing this brush properly when I pick up another one. Bobbi Brown gel or MAC Fluidline?

3. Make Up For Ever Elipse Sponge

I have purchased this little guy quite a number of times. It’s my favourite sponge. I like the shape for getting in to all the little nooks and crannies of the face. I also love the texture. I use it damp and use it to stipple on my foundation. It gives a gorgeous no make-up sort of a look. Of course you could use it dry for more coverage. I remember these sponges being more porous than this one, I wonder if they have changed it. This one reminds me of the Laura Mercier sponge whereas my old one was more akin to a beauty blender. I bought mine for $11 from Sephora but there is a Make Up For Ever on Clarendon Street, Dublin, which I often use.

On another note, this is the only type of communication I have had today – no, I haven’t become a hermit. I have just had braces applied to my lower teeth. I also had the top tightened which has left me with a face that hurts when I talk. Boo. Think I’ll just go to  bed and try to sleep through it…. although One Born Every Minute is on…

What are your favourite sponges or brushes?
