Tooth Whitening Mission – The Best Whitening Toothpaste

Toothpaste is rather a boring topic but I had to blog about White Glo. I got a sample of the original formula in a Glossy Box or Carmine box a few months back and after a week I found it lessened any staining on my teeth. I thought I would have to buy online, since it’s an Australian brand, and I was willing to do this. But low and behold it’s on offer in Boots at the moment.

I bought the original formula, since I know it works for me. But I also picked up the Tea and Coffee drinker version. I loathe coffee but am mad about tea!

Each box cost €4 and it comes with a stain removing toothbrush and floss stick. Bargain! The tooth brushes are genius – they stick to your tiles. I do love a gimmick.

I plan to use the original formula at night and the Tea/Coffee version in the morning since it’s designed to stop the tannin in tea discoloring the teeth. It leaves a way film that stops stains, well, staining. They also contain a decent amount of fluoride which I always look for in a toothpaste.

So far so good.

I also picked up four Mitchum Smart Solids. They’re hard to find here and are usually between €3.50 and €4 each. In Boots at the moment they’re only €2.50. Good time to stick up.

Weird post, I know :) Have you found a great whitening toothpaste?

Teeth Whitening Pen – All White by Carter Beauty

You know I’m mad for teeth whitening products. Well I have been using the All White Teeth Whitening Pen by Carter Beauty for the past two months. I thought it was time to share my thoughts on the product!

* This pen is actually great for braces wearers. I could paint around the brackets. It’s also great for isolating areas, if you have one or two teeth that need brightening for example.

I paint on the product whilst keeping your smile wide. Let your it dry onto your teeth for a minute before closing your mouth. I like to spit out the residue afterwards – although it’s safe, I’m mindful of chemicals with the bump to think of. It’s much easier to use than strips.

This is definitely the best whitening product on the Irish market – that I’ve come across anyway. It’s no Crest whitening strip (by a long shot!) but it is better than Whizzer strips sold in pharmacies here. I saw results after 3 applications. It whitened and brightened.

Would I recommend?

Personally, if I needed teeth whitening for the first time I would invest in a box of Crest professional strips (review & my before and after pics here) but for maintenance or for minor discolouration, this is a great product. I will purchase this when it’s gone and use it when my teeth need a little  pick-me-up. It’s really handy for your bag and because there is no gum shield or strips you could use it in the loo at work or on the move.

Woo Hoo for White Teeth – Crest Whitening Strips (Before & Afters)

I have finally completed my 20 day treatment of Crest 3D White Strips. I have tried the Vivid strips before and found the results a little disappointing so I was delighted to have the opportunity to try the Professional Effects.

There are 20 days worth of treatments in the box, with an upper and lower teeth strip in each packet.

On first opening a packet, I found that the strip had come away from the plastic backing and was stuck to the side of the wrapper. It was a little tricky to remove…maybe the postman left the package out in the sun before delivery. This didn’t happen with any of the other packs. I also found it a little tricky to apply the strip to my bottom teeth without it curling. After a little frustration I managed to find a technique that worked for me after a few days.

Compared to the Vivid strips, these stay on much better. They don’t move or slide around. I even found that I could still talk whilst wearing them (with a little slurring).

Here are the results:

Day 1

Day 20

I hated posting these images – I need Invisalign stat! Ah well, at least my teeth are brighter.

I was delighted with the results. They started to work immediately – my family commented on my teeth after only one treatment although most people need to wait a few days to see results. I assume this is down to my tea addiction!

The gel itself tastes like toothpaste although I’m not fond of the mouth full of whitening gel after I remove the strips. Regardless, it’s completely worth it.

I was going to fork out a few hundred for Zoom whitening but read quite a few reviews where people complained about sensitivity. I had no sensitivity with these strips. That being said, I have never had sensitivity with any teeth whitening treatments in the past. If you suffer from that problem, then you possible feel some sensitivity. I used Sensodyne toothpaste, which has a high level of flouride, to keep sensitivity at bay.

I highly recommend these strips!

They were quite hard to find in Ireland in the past but they’re available from Frownies for €48.90.

* I have not been sponsored by any of the brands mentioned above

Give the illusion of Whiter Teeth

If you don’t fancy heading down the laser whitening route or start dabbling with bleaching treatments there are few things you can try to make them look whiter:

  • Avoid brown, orange and coral shades of lipstick. These warm shades bring out the yellow tones in you teeth.
  • A cool toned red lipstick will make your teeth appear whiter then they are.
  • Pink gloss is a softer option Continue Reading
