Urban Decay Naked Palette – Is it a cult buy?

I am a beauty blogger failure. I have had the Urban Decay Naked palette in my possession for months now and I failed to mention it.  I bought it from the House of Frazer website in the UK before it was on sale in Ireland. I have no excuse, I completely forgot to blog about it.

The Naked Palette has been talked and talked about on beauty blogs and YouTube channels so the point of my post is a little different. I want to evaluate if the palette is a cult buy or not.

First a little look, in the unlikely event that you haven’t seen it.

The palette comes with a duo eye liner – Zero and Whiskey. It also comes with a mini bottle of Primer Potion (which I appear to have lost!)

And some swatches… I’m nothing if not thorough :)

First 7 – L to R: Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Half Baked, Smog

Last 5 – L to R: Darkhorse, Toasted, Hustle, Creep, Gunmetal

What do I think?

I love it. All of the shades are pigmented and easy to work with. The shades are wearable by anyone of any skin tone. It’s of professional quality. It’s also good value when you factor in the cost of one Urban decay shadow. You’re getting twelve shades. My other Urban Decay palettes contain shadows that I very rarely use, whereas every shade in this one has been used frequently. There are also a few matte shades – thank you Urban decay for listening to the demands of your fans!

Is it very exciting?

Well, no. But it is extremely useful and versatile. It’s more beautiful that exciting! If you had a neutral palette and a few accent shadows in your collection, that’s all you would need – probably not all you would want but definitely all you would need. :)

Is this useful to a make-up artist?

Extremely. It is now a staple in my kit. I use it in some way on most clients. If you’re new to the job this is an affordable way to get your professional neutral shades. There are also a few matte shades which make this an even bigger winner.

Do I recommend you run out and buy it?

Yes, yes, YES! If you don’t already have it and you love eyeshadow then I would add it to your Christmas list without a doubt! I bought it for myself, I couldn’t wait until Christmas – it costs €36 / £27 / $44 from the Urban Decay site, Debenhams and everywhere that stocks Urban Decay products.

Is it a cult buy?

Yes. It’s a rare gem. If you’re a neutral girl you will be in heaven! This is one of those products that people talk about long after it’s gone.

What do you think of the palette?
